The Arkansas Department of Higher Education reviews and approves academic programs for the state’s 11 public universities and 22 public two-year colleges. In addition, the agency is responsible for distributing approximately $170 million annually from state revenues and lottery funds in the form of financial aid. More than 20 grant and loan repayment programs are available to students, with eligibility requirements ranging from academic status and financial need to specific fields of study.
