SEED INOCULANTS Inoculate your legume seeds prior to planting. The primary reason for planting legumes (alfalfa, clovers, vetches, peas, beans and other related plants) is their purpose in fixing nitrogen from the air into the soil in forms that other plants can use. Legumes are not able to do it singularly. They work in harmony with a group of root inhabiting bacteria known as rhizobacteria, which process and convert gaseous nitrogen to plant useable nitrogen. The legumes provide an environment (on their roots) and supplemental food for the bacteria. Although these bacteria do exist in the soil, research indicates that the amount of bacteria naturally found in most soils is not sufficient to maximize nitrogen fixation by the legumes. This is why it is important to inoculate leguminous seeds with the proper bacteria prior to planting. This ensures a high level of viable bacteria when the seed germinates. Properly inoculated legumes can generate up to 200 lbs. per acre of useable nitrogen. All leguminous cover crop seeds in this catalog must be inoculated.

CODLING MOTH CONTROL

Calcium-25® Mineral Supplement Promote Growth and Increase Yields of Tomatoes, Peppers, Herbs and Other Plants.

Codling Moth Trap

Target: Calcium deficiency related issues and diseases, like Blossom-end Rot, Cavity Spot, Bitter Pit and Tip Burn.

Detect & Trap Codling Moths. Target: Codling Moth

Description: OMRI listed product that can be used on apple or any other fruit tree to help prevent calcium deficient related diseases, increase crop yield and lengthen fruit’s storage period. Efficiently absorbed patented formula as the calcium in this product has been attached to waxy compounds. Plant leaves contain waxy components aiding in protection and growth regulation. During active growing, these waxy compounds will allow substances to permeate into the leaf. When correctly applied to growing foliage, absorption of the calcium occurs because the waxy compound in the formula mimics those naturally occurring on leaf surfaces. Once permeated, calcium spreads through the plant, promoting growth. Suggested Use: Mix about one level teaspoon per gallon of water. Do not use any additives or apply simultaneously with other liquid fertilizers. Use a hand sprayer, with a fine mist to apply to plants. Apply to the entire plant with droplets remaining for approximately 10 minutes. Apply early or midway in the season, and when temperatures are warm (≈ 77°F or higher). For increased yield, spray during early development, repeat 2-3 times and reapply monthly thereafter. Spray up to 2 weeks before harvest to improve storage life. Apply fertilizers about 24 hours after application. The 8 oz. container will dilute to a total of 40 gallons, covering about 0.4-1 acre. 1811200 8 oz. For Vegetables 1811201 8 oz. These 2-3 mm darkly colored wasps control many species of aphids in greenhouses and outdoors. They utilize aphids as a host; parasitizing them by laying their eggs inside the aphid’s body. Larvae hatch from their eggs and exit aphid mummies. They develop into adults in about 2 weeks. Females lay about 100 eggs, parasitizing about 200-300 aphids in the process. They are very capable of finding aphid colonies, even when population numbers are low and can be used year-round as they do not enter short day induced diapause. For best results, when aphid populations are high (late summer) use them in conjunction with other aphid parasites and beneficial generalists.

Suggested Use: (Depending upon level of infestation) Shipped as adults. Release immediately; walk along rows and allow for them to fly out of their container. Apply when aphid populations are low. For maximum control, make two releases, one week apart to establish overlapping generations. When pest populations are elevated, release at higher rates for about 3 weeks. Note: When monitoring pests, it is best to use blue sticky traps as the aphid parasites may be attracted to the yellow sticky traps. Use about 4002,000/acre depending on infestation. PEST CONTROL - BENEFICIAL INSECTS Neoseiulus fallacis (=Amblysieus) An Excellent Mite Predator for Control of Many Different Types of Mites in Moderately Warm & Dry Environments Image Citation: Photo by Dr. Art Agnello, Cornell University

Target: Most mites.

Description: This predatory mite effectively suppresses cyclamen mite in strawberry fields, broad mite in greenhouse crops, European red mite and two-spotted spider mite in orchards, spider mite on roses and vegetable crops in greenhouses and general mite problems on mint and hops in northern climates. Eggs and nymphs are difficult to see as they are small and almost transparent. Adults are pear-shaped and ivory until feeding, when they take on the red or brown coloration of their prey. Adult females consume around 2-16 pest mites per day and lay ≈20-60 eggs during a 14-60 day lifecycle. The transition from egg to adult stage takes about 7-9 days.

Suggested Use: (Depending upon level of infestation) Good for cold climates! Use preventatively; over-winters and sustains on pollen. Release at the start and end of the season. Use ≈1,000 per 4,500 sq.ft or 10,000 per Acre. Temperature

PEST CONTROL - BENEFICIAL NEMATODES WHAT ARE BENEFICIAL NEMATODES? Beneficial Nematodes are live, microscopic organisms (non-segmented roundworms) that occur naturally in soil throughout the world. They are parasitic to insect pests that typically have a developing (larval or pupal) stage of life in the soil; however, they have been known to also parasitize above ground stages of adults, nymphs and larvae.

HOW DO BENEFICIAL NEMATODES WORK?

HOW DO I APPLY NEMATODES? 1. Mix Ready-To-Use Beneficial Nematodes with water. 2. Apply pre-dawn or at dusk with hose-end sprayer, backpack sprayer, pump sprayer or watering can. 3. Keep area moist at least 2 weeks.

For Treatment:

1.

2.

3. Antoinette Malan @ Stellenbosch University, South Africa.

1. Beneficial Nematodes are applied to soil to locate pests, enter through orifices or body walls, and infect pests with toxic bacteria. 2. Bacteria kills pests within 24 to 48 hours. Beneficial Nematodes feed on bacteria and host insect tissue. Adult stages of Beneficial Nematodes produce hundreds of thousands of new juveniles.

Apply every 2 weeks until pest infestation subsides.

For Prevention: Apply in the Spring, Summer and Fall (2-3 times per year).

Milky Spore Powder Specific, Long Lasting Larval Control. Target: Japanese Beetle Grubs. Description: Contains Bacillus popillae bacterium, lethal to soil-borne grub stages of Japanese beetles. Grubs that normally feed on roots of grass and vegetables will ingest the bacterium which will cause death in about 1-3 weeks. Grubs decompose, and re-release bacteria spores. The spores can remain in the soil for about ten years, and in some cases up to 20 years. In warmer climates, control can occur in 1-3 years and in cooler climates 3-5 years after one application. Can apply with other fertilizers, will not harm animals and can be applied to food crops. For best results, apply with NemaSeek, which will aid in spreading the bacterium to grubs. Store in a cool dry place to maintain shelf life. Suggested Use: Use All-Purpose Dispenser Tube for easy application. White chalk carries the bacterium, and the resultant treated area should resemble a checkerboard. Water within about 48 hours for about 15-20 minutes to permeate into soil and do not mow or rake until thoroughly soaked. Apply about 1 tsp., every 4 ft., in rows 4 ft. apart. 10 oz. covers ≈ 2,500 ft², 40 oz. covers ≈ ¼ acre, 50 lbs. covers ≈ 4.5 acres. TERMITE CONTROL Description: Subterranean termites are found throughout the U.S. and other parts of the world. They can wreak havoc on homes and buildings. Using Beneficial Nematodes to control termites is a natural and reasonable alternative to harmful synthetics. Beneficial Nematodes make contact with termites when they are sprayed into termite tubes, tunnels, nests and through their own migration. Once they make contact with the colony, it is eliminated when Beneficial Nematodes reach and kill the queen or by killing enough workers and soldiers that the queen starves.

Sc NemAttack Beneficial Nematodes

Save Your Building from Brutal Termite Attacks!

Suggested Use: Mix Beneficial Nematodes with water and apply 1 Garden or 1 Farm size Sc NemAttack per 40 linear feet depending upon infestation (40 linear feet are 40 feet of structural perimeter, for example, one side of a house). Use hose end sprayer, watering can or pest control applicator’s application equipment to apply to trenches that have been dug around perimeter of building. Backfill trenches after applying product. Do not destroy termite tubes. Instead, treat with product and use for monitoring effects. Treat entire building for maximum success. Areas with greater termite activity should be treated with higher applications. Apply 1-2 times per year in spring and fall to ensure continued results. Caulk and seal entrances to building to prevent future entry. For pricing and sizes please go to page 32-33.

Bacillus thuringiensis var. israelensis (Bti) Target: Larval Stages of Mosquitoes & Black Flies. Description: "Bti", Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis, are bacteria which infect and kill mosquito larvae. These bacteria kill only the larvae of mosquitoes and their close relatives like gnats and black flies. Bti does not harm other kinds of larvae, insects, fish, birds, worms or any mammals. When Bti are eaten by the mosquito larvae, they damage the gut cells and quickly paralyze them, leaving them unable to ingest fluids or food. Suggested Use for Dunks: Dunks kill mosquitoes for up to 30 days when placed in standing water outdoors. Dunks will float in water and can be anchored with string to prevent them from being washed away. Alternate drying and wetting does not reduce their effectiveness. Use 1 dunk/100 sq. ft. of infested water. Dunks can also be placed in low lying areas in advance of expected flooding. Suggested Use for Bits/Granular: Broadcast into compost piles, water gardens, flower pots, rain barrels, bird baths, tree holes, swamp coolers, unused swimming pools, old automobile tires and other places that have the potential for mosquito breeding. 1 tsp. per 25 sq. ft. or 1 Tbsp. per 75 sq. ft., 2.5-10 lbs/acre depending upon organic properties of water: black, murky water needs more than clear water. Each trap covers approximately 25 sq. ft. and will last for 2 months. 1260201 One Pack of 6 Traps (.5 lb.) 1260202 Two Packs of 6 Traps (1 lb.) 1260203 Three Packs of 6 Traps (2 lb.)

Terro® Ant Baits

Uses A Natural Pheromone Lure!

Two Ways to Get Rid of Ants!

Target: Adult male clothes moths.

Target: Sugar and grease-eating ants.

Desciption: The Clothes Moth Trap attracts and captures adult male clothes moths. It signals when an infestation is present, but does not control larvae on clothing or personal objects. Female moths are especially attracted to oily or soiled fabrics, where they lay their eggs. The moths avoid light and are therefore difficult to find and identify. The Clothes Moth Trap catches webbing cloths moth during their mating season by using a natural pheromone lure. If moths are found in the trap, take immediate measures to control the larvae. Search out damaged fabrics and destroy, dry clean or freeze them (in a deep freeze for at least 14 days). Suggested Use: Open box carefully. Remove inner parts. Peel release paper from enclosed sticky pad. Remove lure from foil pouch and place in center of sticky pad. Fold top and bottom flaps inside box. Insert pad as shown on back of package. Place trap where moths occur (bedroom closets). Use tab on side of box to pin trap to a wall at eye level. Replace every 12 weeks, or sooner if full of insects. Use traps all year round. 1260702 Clothes Moth Trap (.5 lb.)

$8.95

Revenge Pantry Moth Trap

Desciption: This trap attracts and captures adult flour moths (Indian meal moths, almond moths and raisin moths). These moths are found in flour, rice, crackers, dog food, bird seed and cereal. Trap works by luring male moths into trap with a pheromone (insect hormone) that female moths use to attract males for mating. Reducing the number of male moths reduces egg laying and mating. It is a good idea to keep a few of these traps on hand. Traps work without harmful chemicals! Suggested Use: Use one or two traps for an average sized room or closet and will last 3 months.

HORSE CARE FEED ADDITIVES Maximum Performance, INC. Horse Minerals

Target: Calcium and mineral deficiencies in horses. Description: Calcium and phosphorus can make up to about 70% of the minerals in a horse’s body. When these minerals are used up and excreted in sweat during exercise, a horse’s body will deplete calcium from bones, teeth, joints, etc. to replenish levels if nutrient levels are not replenished through diet. Mineral deficiency therefore has been linked to bone degeneration and various other ailments. Maximum Performance provides high calcium content and a balance of other important minerals that horses need to assist in oxygen delivery to their muscles, metabolic functions, nerve impulses, muscle contractions, etc. Calcium has also been found to aid in the recovery of stomach ulcers, improve nerve conduction, assist in mare and stallion health and fertility and helps prevent bowed tendons, suspensory ligament damage, enteroliths, OCDs, Sesamoiditis, contracted tendons, ulcers, digestive problems, colic, thumps, etc. Its proprietary formula is chelated to provide high absorption rates, is bioavailable, has digestive enzymes, and contains over 16 high quality minerals and supplements including biotin, electrolytes, vitamins B12 and E and selenium. Suggested Use: A 50lb. bag will last one horse ≈ 6 months. Add to normal feeding regime. $37.60 $90.00 $111.15

MANURE MANAGEMENT EM•1 Effective Microorganisms ®

Eliminates Odors – Breaks Down Organic Matter Fast!

Suggested Use: Mix the yeast bait with water and pour into container at the bottom of the trap. Within seconds flies are lured into the trap. They enter into the confinement chamber and dehydrate from exposure to the sun. When it begins to fill up with flies, just empty, hose out and reset with new bait. Comes with one packet of bait, which is enough for approx. 5 weeks. Use 1 trap for 5-10 horses.

Target: Accelerate decomposing organic material.

1256001 1256002

Description: Apply EM•1® to manure and compost piles for accelerated breakdown of organic matter resulting in less breeding sites for flies and other insects. These beneficial microorganisms help break down organic matter in the soil and improve tilth. In addition, EM•1® produces high levels of polysaccharides and other beneficial enzymes that help build stable aggregate and soil structure which reduces soil erosion. This Microbial Inoculant is easy to use!

Testimonials

What Are Fly Eliminators™? Fly Eliminators™ are tiny (approximately 1/8”) beneficial insects that parasitize flies in their developing pupal (cocoon) stage. Scientifically they are referred to as Fly Parasites or Fly Parasitoids.

Adult Fly Eliminator emerging from fly pupa.

How Do Fly Eliminators™ Work? Adult female flies lay their eggs in decaying organic matter, especially manure. Only a few hours later, these eggs develop into microscopic larvae (maggot stage) and burrow down into the manure. The maggots grow until they form a cocoon (pupal stage).

How do I use Fly Eliminators™? You will receive a plastic bag which contains parasitized fly pupae in wood shavings.

2.

Once a few have hatched, sprinkle small handfuls around your property into those dirty flies' favorite breeding areas: manure piles; under water troughs; under bedding; corners of pens and feeding sites.

3.

Cover with dirt or manure to protect your Fly Eliminators™. They will start to burrow down and search for fly pupae to lay their young in.

4.

Repeat every 2-4 weeks.

Churchill Downs “We started using Fly Eliminators™ back in 1983. We are still using them today. It’s a wonderful product and a successful program that everyone should use! All the big corporations are going green and we were one of the first to go green by using Fly Eliminators™. Of all the programs we have had in place and through management changes over the years, this is the one program you don’t want to mess with. Trust me!”

Del Mar Thoroughbred Club

Fly Eliminators™ reproduce in about 21 days, constantly strengthening the Fly Eliminator™ population. Pest flies reproduce at a faster rate than our Fly Eliminators, so they must be replenished on a regular basis, approx. 2 – 4 weeks.

When your Fly Eliminators™ arrive, check for any signs of hatching.

Race Tracks

Butch Lehr, Track Manager of Churchill Downs

Then, the female Fly Eliminators™ seek out the fly pupae and begin to deposit their eggs inside. The eggs grow into larvae that feed on the developing fly, stopping the adult pest fly from hatching.

“The Del Mar Thoroughbred Club horse racing facility in San Diego County has been using parasitized fly pupae biological fly control from ARBICO™ since 1985 with great success. Each summer nearly 2,000 horses and hundreds of thousands of race goers converge on this community to live, eat and play making fly control a top priority for both the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club and the Community that relies so heavily upon the agricultural product we promote. We appreciate the years of timely and professional service Rick Frey and his staff provided and look forward to many more good years ahead.” Joe Harper, Chief Executive Officer of Del Mar

“I was introduced to Fly Eliminators™ 30 years ago at a Racetrack Symposium and have been using them ever since. They’ve done a fabulous job and I have recommended Fly Eliminators™ to many people! They’re a great product! Your program was green before green was popular. Without a doubt, this is the way to go! Arbico is a very good company! Roy Smith, Track Manager of Philadelphia Park
