Giltrap Farm Machinery (trading as Giltrap AgriZone) is a major supplier of tractors and farm machinery in the Waikato and central North Island. Welcome to our winter quarterly mailer which we hope interests you with the wide range of new and used tractors and equipment and some parts specials. As part of my goal to grow the business through improved customer service I have employed additional staff members and welcome Mike Munro and Graeme Wilson to our sales team and Daniel Gibbs to Rotorua parts. I have also appointed Tony Jones as Cambridge branch manager and John Douglas as Rotorua branch manager in addition to assisting me with Otorohanga branch management. Ben Peters has been promoted to a role as group sales manager. Our staff count is getting close to 80 across the three branches. We are preparing a lot of tractors and equipment for 1st June delivery - there do

What are you wearing to Fieldays?
FERG’S WINTER SERVICE TIPS Ahead of the silage and hay season, it more than pays to prepare your machinery with some basic preventative maintenance, full clean and service With just a few months until kick-off of the 2014 season, now is the time to be getting balers and mowers etc ready for action. Time Spent on preventative maintenance and preparation now can save an awful lot of angst and irritation when it comes to gathering up the grass and popping out nicely-formed bales and stacks of quality silage and hay. Doing some simple things right goes a long way, like checking the drive chains for correct tension and the bearings for movement and noise. Giving the machine a good clean inside and out, and making sure the baler is lubricated with the correct fill of the right oils and greases. All machines should be serviced and any broken parts from last season replaced with new parts, any fatigue cracks need to be repaired in the correct manner so as to prevent failures, what you need to be careful of when repairing cracks is that you don’t make a repair that puts extra stress somewhere else on the machine causing other failures. Now is a good time to be ordering parts from your local dealer because, like everyone else, dealers will also be flat out come the season and paying extra to fly parts in can be costly. It is better for all concerned to get organised now when there is a bit of time available. It will also save time and money in the season, replacing knives and blades or getting them sharpened is another preseason service job. To get an idea of the things to watch out for, talk to one our service team or ask us to complete an Inspection of your machine so we can provide you a report on what should be serviced or replaced.
