Synopsis A woman hatches into a world made of bin bags. In it she finds a man scavenging tHROUGH PILES OF RUBBISH. He is searching for the key to a mysterious container which seems to OFFER A WAY OUT. IT BUZZES AND the woman is overcome by a compulsive desire to open it. She too starts looking for A key, but the man repeatedly stands in her way, determined to find the answer for himself. Frustrated and increasingly ruthless, the woman kills him. Alone at last she discovers the key, but upon opening the container she does not find the peace she hoped for, but something far more terrifying.
‘‘’Wasteworld’ is a film about fear in the face of absurdity, set in an ominous and absurd place. The story is simple as I wanted to focus on the use of sound and images to try to extract strong emotions and sensations without relying on dialogue and narrative. - Andrea niada
ANDREA NIADA- Director Andrea was born in Milan, Italy in 1991. Having taken a bachelors degree in theatre at Warwick University, Andrea studied at the MET before joining The London Film School. His last film, the documentary‘‘’how we are now’, explored old age, following an eighty year old couple in their daily lives. Critically well received, the film is currently beginning its festival cycle.
OLIVER SUNLEY- PRODUCER ’WASTEWORLD’ is A SIXTH collaboration between Oliver and Andrea Niada. His previous work as a non-fiction producer and director has been exhibited nationally and internationally. While working in film criticism, Oliver studied film at Yale and The University of Kent before joining The London Film School.
