Food throughout the port region
T
he greater Amsterdam port area includes all major Dutch food industries, adding substantially to the total of cargo handled. Together the basic food products and exports of finished products exceed 10 million tons, the majority of which is agribulk (including animal fodder). Amsterdam is the world’s largest cocoa port, while the major food industries are centred in the Zaan region, northwest of Amsterdam.
