GO LOVE YOURSELF THE FIRST ANNUAL REAL LOVE CONCERT Sponsorship Proposal

REAL LOVE CELEBRATE YOURSELF

THE FIRST ANNUAL REAL LOVE CONCERT EVENT

This February, A Mile In My Shoes, Inc., (AMIMS) is celebrating the beauty of human uniqueness and individuality, and embracing REAL LOVE by loving ourselves first. The First Annual Real Love Concert Event will bring together spoken word artists, singers and musicians in a two-act, catered extravaganza. We will share our message through song and spoken word by producing a concert dedicated to empowering, accepting, celebrating and loving one’s self. AMIMS is targeting women and the LGBT community with a message of self-love as we feel these individuals are the most vulnerable and therefore would benefit the most from our event. Throughout the evening, we will show video clips of notable personalities stressing the value and importance of self-love and self-acceptance. We are promoting the message that regardless of what society tells us, we must think of ourselves as beautiful, wonderfullymade human beings.

WHAT IS “REAL” LOVE? AMIMS believes that REAL LOVE cannot have its foundation dependent on external factors, but rather it must come from within. Many people in our target markets spend their lives searching for someone to celebrate them, someone to value them, or someone to tell them they’re beautiful. We believe it is imperative that these messages come from the most important person in our lives…ourselves.

WHY A CONCERT ABOUT SELF-LOVE? AMIMS is launching its season with the First Annual Real Love Concert because we believe many of the social issues highlighted throughout our season could be remedied if self-love, self-respect and a positive self-image were engrained into the psyche of every human being. We believe that these fundamental ideals are central to the betterment of society.

REAL LOVE TARGET MARKET ONE WOMEN

Probably more than any other group, women are inundated with messages from advertisers emphasizing the importance of achieving the “ideal” figure or look. Sadly, about 10 million females suffer from anorexia and/or bulimia in the United States alone. Notably, about 10 million women in the United States also undergo cosmetic surgical and nonsurgical procedures every year. We believe these messages contribute to women and young girls feeling they must alter their appearance to fit into society. In addition, movies and television are overrun with stories and images of women who are not “complete” without a mate. We want to challenge those false notions with our message that being complete, content and beautiful is a state of mind.

REAL LOVE TARGET MARKET TWO THE LGBT COMMUNITY Even with the powerful victory in the New York to legalize same-sex marriage and the many media personalities showing their support of this effort, we must not forget that less than a year ago the news media was saturated with stories of suicides by gay youth. This was in addition to stories of homophobic bashings, which together caused the conversation about our country’s attitude towards the LGBT community to intensify. Many question whether the suicides and bashings were an epidemic or if the media was simply shedding light on a continuing pattern of hate and intolerance in this country. Along with vigils, rallies and the successful It Gets Better video campaign, AMIMS would like to contribute with the message that when you passionately love yourself and embrace who you are, every day, even in the midst of persecution, it truly does get better.

REAL LOVE COMPANY PROFILE A MILE IN MY SHOES The mission of AMIMS is to use the arts as a platform to address a diverse array of social issues. We are a nonprofit arts organization dedicated to increasing the awareness of modern social issues and the impact they have on society. We believe using the arts is an effective and progressive way to raise awareness and promote understanding of the individuals engaged in the issues we present. We also desire to put a face on the issues and introduce them to an audience who would not generally be engaged. We will produce a series of concerts, original theater productions, films, talks and forums each addressing a modern social issue. At select concert performances and theatre productions we will introduce our audience to organizations that deal directly with the issues we present. We will then provide audience members with information and opportunities to get involved.

REAL LOVE PRODUCTION HISTORY A MILE IN MY SHOES, INC. Founded in 2005 by Composer, Lyricist and Playwright Germono Toussaint, AMIMS was formed to increase the awareness of modern social issues and the impact they have on society by producing events focused on these issues and motivating its audience to action. AMIMS’ first production, Caged, was a two-act contemporary musical based on interviews Toussaint conducted with 13 women at the Nia Imani Family House, a transitional living facility for women in Milwaukee, WI. In 2005, Caged was featured in the Not For Broadway Theatre Festival in New York City. In 2008, AMIMS, in conjunction with The Well Entertainment Group and Uni Aum Entertainment, produced the Pride Slam Jam. Held during pride weekend in New York City, the Pride Slam Jam showcased a wide variety of independent LGBT artists promoting a transformative message.

In 2009, Toussaint produced the Verve concert series; five sold out, elegant nights of mixing, mingling, and top-notch entertainment, providing the same-gender-loving community of color with a place to connect. AMIMS’ second project, The Anointed, was inspired by interviews Toussaint conducted with samegender-loving spiritual leaders. The Anointed was Co-Produced by Freedom Train Productions and Horse Trade Theater Group, and premiered at The Fire This Time Festival in 2010 in New York City. AMIMS is set to produce a full length version of The Anointed this season. AMIMS is proud to be the co-producer of the The Fire This Time Festival in 2011 and 2012, which explores the diverse possibilities of contemporary American drama and challenging new directions for 21st century black theater. AMIMS also co-produced a concert/fundraiser for this festival titled Through The Ages: Our Journey Through Music in 2010 and 2011.

REAL LOVE SPONSORSHIP BENEFITS A MILE IN MY SHOES, INC. Being a sponsor will help offset the costs and turn our vision into a reality. We are a start-up arts organization which needs financial assistance in order to fully realize the vision for this project. Some costs of producing The First Annual Real Love Concert include: securing a venue in New York City, booking performers, and renting audio and video equipment. Your support is greatly appreciated. Sponsorship provides a great means of broadening your competitive edge by improving your company’s image, prestige and credibility by supporting an event that your target market finds attractive. In recent years, corporate sponsorship has become the fastest growing type of marketing in the United States. Having this strong tie to multiple social organizations will differentiate you from your competitors and help you maintain a strong presence in the community. Your company will be appropriately recognized as a leader in the social market and be exposed to a growing number of possible consumers.
