2012–2013 ANNUAL REPORT ANABAPTIST MENNONITE BIBLICAL SEMINARY Dear friends of AMBS, A MBS faculty are “keepers of the flame” for Mennonite Church USA and Mennonite Church Canada in irreplaceable ways. In times of widespread disillusionment with the church, there is no doubt that the AMBS witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ is vitally important. Your generous gifts help to keep the fire burning brightly. In two years we’ve added five new faculty. Key observers remark that the level of generativity and collaboration among the faculty as a whole is higher than it’s been for decades. AMBS has been reinstated on the United Methodist list of approved schools which signals a renewed partnership with a large regional denomination. Your generosity enabled us to launch a redesigned, distinctive Anabaptist Master of Divinity in two modes: MDiv Campus and MDiv Connect (for students at a distance). Faculty commented on this year’s incoming class with delighted surprise, noting a confident “change in piety that is unashamedly Christian.” They observe that the new class has a “dramatic sense of lived faith” and that each of the new students exhibits clarity about why they are in seminary. The challenges to keep the flame burning are immense, but our resolve to do so has never been stronger. Thank you for your partnership. Sara Wenger Shenk, AMBS president
