Good Morning, This is the crucial week in History. This week is the reason He came as a baby into this world, the reason we so joyfully celebrate His birth. His birth would not mean what it means if it were not for the events of this week. As I take time to think about this week and what it is about, I imagine the heart of Mary. She gave birth to her son under the most unusual of circumstances, and yet in every step of the journey was the hand of God on her life. The news from the Angel announcing that she had been chosen to carry the Son of God~ Joseph coming on board after a visit from his Angel~ leaving one town to travel to another to escape trouble~ finding no room to deliver their baby and when offered by the Inn keeper they gratefully accept the animal stall to deliver. And Jesus, the King of Kings was born in a manger filled with hay for the animals. Mary loved her son! She watched Him grow and develop into a young man. All the while, knowing there is a plan, one in which she did not fully comprehend. But I believe she always knew it would break her heart as a mother. Then you see Jesus, during this crucial week before the Passover feast, where, without fanfare, he simply disrobes and puts a towel about his waist so that He could wash the feet of his disciples. The Bible says in John 13 that He knew his time was near. This is a beautiful illustration of Jesus being a servant, and still teaching lessons for his disciples to take and to share with the world. Verse 16: “I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.” This is a precious example of humility for us still today. In that group of disciples was Judas. Verse 2 of this chapter tells us that “the devil had already prompted Judas to betray Jesus”. He may have sat there thinking he had this in the bag. But while giving the appearance of being clean, Jesus ends the sentence in verse 10 with: “All of you are clean, though not every one of you”. Jesus knows all. Judas thought he was getting away with his sin, yet Jesus knew who it was and what he was about to do. There are so many thoughts today and I apologize if they are confusing. But there are many things to ponder during this week. I pray that my thoughts will prompt you to ponder a bit today as well. This really is an amazing week in history! Day | 99
