Hembra: rabadilla amarillenta contrastante con la espalda gris. El rojo de la cabeza del macho depende de su alimentación, probablemente de los insectos que ingiere. 6.5” to 7.2”; short yellow bill, two wing bars. Male: black back and wings; the head may or may not have red. Female: yellowish rump which contrasts with gray back.
