day afternoon, June 2, a total of 388 seniors in the Class of 2011 graduated from Menlo-Atherton High School. Among students who applied for the honor, five were chosen to speak. “A variety of styles and presentations” is what the selection panel was looking for, according to the school’s pre-ceremony preparation materials. Long was not favored over short, nor serious over funny, nor looking backward over looking forward, but combinations were welcome. Staff members assisted with the speech polishing. ■ Graduates
