Inspired by Gene Sarazen’s epic 4-wood “Shot Heard Round the World” at the 1935 Augusta Invitational (soon to be renamed The Masters), the Double Eagle is for the man who wants to make a statement with his game and his footwear. Similar to the footwear of Sarazen’s heyday, this balmoral with a perf wingtip and toe medallion exhibits the timeless class you’d expect from an Allen Edmonds dress shoe. We have updated the look by adding a comfortable cork footbed and round Spacer Mesh Upper, which allows your foot to breathe in hot weather. Don’t worry, if you find yourself in the trap more often than you’d like, the mesh screen is tight enough to keep the sand out of your shoe. Our 360° Goodyear welted sole provides the lateral stability required for a performance golf swing, and the design will give you the support you need to make a little noise of your own on the course.

Named for the small town near the singular Sand Hills course in Nebraska laid out in 1994 by architects Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, our Mullen is a special design in its own right. Patterned after the Bradley from our Timeless Collection, the moccasin toe and hand-stitched vamp on this five-eyelet model brings unheard-of sophistication to the attire you wear on the links. Available in black alpine with a brown saddle – a modern take on the universal saddle golf shoe – or the stylish chili country calf, even the Mullen’s stunning color options are unprecedented. In 2011 you began your relationship with Allen Edmonds. How do you enjoy playing in the Honors Collection (HC) shoes and do they make a difference in your game? Absolutely. The shoes fit beautifully on my feet. I firmly believe that the golf shoe is very important to the foundation of the golf swing. I am a traditional player, and feel that the golf swing starts from the ground up. If your feet are not moving correctly or actively, the golf swing is not going to be as effective and powerful. There is no question that for balance and comfort, it is best that you have your feet wedded to the ground in your swing. If a shoe doesn’t fit well, you’re not going to swing effectively and certainly won’t play well. I am confident of making a good swing when I play in the Honors Collection shoes. What has impressed you the most about the new shoes? It has been fascinating to see the reactions of golfers to the Honors Collection. Whether they see them in a brochure, in the shop, or on my feet they are captivated by the handsome look of the shoes. There is a statement to them that speaks to tradition and harkens back to a different era and lifestyle. The Honors Collection’s designs and construction reflect the quality craftsmanship of Allen Edmonds. In recent years, it seems like golfers’ choices have been limited to an athletic shoe with some general design or a pure athletic shoe. So when golfers see the Honors Collection, they think of a higher class of shoe and feel that they can wear them proudly at any club. How broad do you think this appeal is? Allen Edmonds has made such a name for itself in dress shoe style, design and construction that golfers and men of all ages are naturally attracted to the new Honors Collection shoes. I think bringing their expertise, craftsmanship and keen eye for design into golf is a natural step for this respected company. I also think that men of all ages feel very positive that Allen Edmonds is an American-made shoe, which is very important to them. What have your fellow professionals said about your HC shoes? I wore the Double Eagle shoes in Hawaii to start the 2011 season and shot an easy 64 in my opening round. Yet, no one noticed my score as all the players commented on how beautiful the shoes looked! I actually got a lot of side comments from fellow pros asking where they can get the shoes. Of course, many of them had seen pictures of Walter Hagen and shoes like this in the 1920s. Some of those looks have been brought back over the years, but nothing with the fine leathers, genuinely classic look and construction of the Honors Collection. The shoes have a true legacy look and feel to them that drew attention on the Champions’ Tour. What is your favorite shoe in the HC line and why? All the styles are terrific. I appreciate the fine construction and comfort of the classic leather shoes and especially the feel of the mesh shoes. When I travel, I try to take only two pairs of shoes that will match any outfit I wear. For me the brown and white Legend and black and white Medalist go with anything I wear. In my car, I have the black and white Redan model. I really love all the models because they speak to a design and lifestyle that reflects golf’s fine heritage and Allen Edmonds’ commitment to quality craftsmanship.
