Optional extras enhance Kuhn’s Cultivators

Kuhn Farm Machinery has launched a variety of optional accessories to enhance its range of Prolander, Cultimer and Optimer cultivators

P

ROLANDER: new tine, toughened share and roller options The PROLANDER range of vibrating tine stubble cultivators receives a new tine which uses a single bolt to hold a hard-wearing, easy to change and reversible share in place.

A new tube and bar combination roller is also available for the PROLANDER: a 550mm diameter tube roller and 420mm bar roller are mounted together to ensure excellent soil crumbling and weed management when working stubbles on a min-till basis.

The single-bolt design reduces the amount of downtime incurred when replacing worn parts, while the heat-hardened share, which is also thicker than standard versions, has a lifespan up to 20% longer than ordinary, non-hardened parts.

CULTIMER and OPTIMER: new V-LINER roller A new V-LINER roller is available for KUHN’s CULTIMER (tine) and OPTIMER (disc) cultivators: featuring v-shaped press rings at 12.5cm intervals, the V-LINER ensures good soil consolidation, even in wet conditions.

Cleaning blades are located between each neighbouring pair of rollers to prevent clogging and to enhance the crumbling of heavier soils. These blades can be retracted to avoid excessive consolidation when working in loamy soils. CULTIMER: continuous hydraulic adjustment The CULTIMER range has been further enhanced by the optional inclusion of KUHN’s continuous hydraulic adjustment system. This system, which is already available on the OPTIMER XL and PROLANDER ranges, enables the working depth of the cultivator to be adjusted from the comfort of the tractor cab: this not only enables the cultivation depth to be adjusted as soil conditions change, but also reduces operator fatigue, fuel consumption and machine downtime, thereby increasing daily output.

Red clover offers potential to boost production from forage

Including red clover in silage leys has the potential to boost dry matter production by more than two tonnes per hectare per year.

I

ncluding red clover in silage leys has the potential to boost dry matter production by more than two tonnes per hectare per year and increase nutritional quality in the clamp, according to Francis Dunne of Field Options. Speaking at the AHDB’s ‘Quality Silage from Seed to Feed’ event at Longden Manor in Shropshire, he referenced local trials based on 30-day multi-cut silage system and the performance of crops during dry periods in both 2017 and 2018 seasons. This highlights the value of red clover in building resilience into forage production systems.

If crops are cut and ensiled correctly the result could be a 15% crude protein forage instead of 12% protein, and more of it. As well as being high in protein, red clover can have an ME similar to perennial ryegrass, so – with the same proviso of best practice harvesting and ensiling - there is potential to optimise ME too.” Mr Dunne put these potential gains in dry matter yield and quality in the context of the opportunity to improve performance from forage.

“In the Pro-Cam Field Options trials at Harper Adams University, the mixtures including red clover outperformed straight ryegrass leys, and grass and white clover leys, by two to three tonnes of dry matter per hectare over the season, with around 60% of that being during the driest months of July and August.

“If we look at increased dry matter alone, an additional 0.5tDM/ha of forage of average quality (10.8MJ/ kg ME) will mean an extra 5,400 MJ of energy in the clamp. For a milk producer that’s enough to produce 982 litres of milk per hectare, which even at a modest 26 pence per litre is worth over £250/ha. These gains will increase when you then factor in higher protein and/ or energy in the forage generated by shorter cutting intervals.

“Also, as red clover is typically at around 20% crude protein, its impact within a mixture can raise the protein in the silage by two to three percentage points.

“It’s in all livestock producers’ interests to minimise the times the feed lorry comes on the farm, and that’s made possible by increasing the quantity

6 | AgriNews

and quality of homegrown forage.” Red clover breeding has in recent years led to greater persistency and yield in modern varieties, something that Francis Dunne said was an additional reason to consider it. “Traditionally red clover has been a crop that would typically persist for two to three years, so suitable for shorter term leys but not maintaining its presence in medium to long term leys,” he added. “Some modern varieties, like AberClaret and Atlantis, have been bred to persist for up to four to five years, so with the correct management have the potential to persist for the duration of many mediumterm cutting leys. “There’s no doubt in my mind that most livestock farmers have it within their capabilities to improve performance from forage. It’s important to look at alternative species, such as red clover, and to use varieties – whatever the species – that rank highly on the Recommended Grass and Clover List.”

Advanced Driving System of Landini Rex 4 wins Technical Innovation Award 2018 The Advanced Driving System for the Landini Rex 4 received the coveted Technical Innovation Award 2018

T

he Advanced Driving System for the Landini REX 4 received the coveted Technical Innovation Award 2018, which is given during EIMA, the trade show dedicated to farming equipment held in Bologna. “At Argo Tractors – said Antonio Salvaterra, Marketing Director of the industrial group based in Reggio Emilia – we believe that this award further validates our continued research efforts aimed at improving comfort, safety and performance, which are at the core of our corporate mission”. Specialty tractors require a great deal of effort on the part of the operator, who needs to control both the vehicle and implements. Based on this consideration, the Advanced Driving System aims to enhance operator comfort by making it easier to control and manage operations rather than driving the vehicle. Landini REX 4 is equipped with an innovative hybrid driver assist system that uses cutting-edge mechatronic technologies to assist operators in manoeuvring both in field and road operation, that makes steering stiffer as a function of speed – using the same principle adopted in cars – and causes the wheels to return to the central position automatically after a turn. This new technology solution also offers connection to satellite guidance, memorisation and control of wheel position during

recording hours of operation, consumption and service requirements thanks to the IoT service, a world première in specialty tractors. Additional advantages benefit the fleet manager, who relies on a web platform to manage scheduled maintenance and troubleshooting and manage field register upkeep automatically. Last but not least, tractor benefits from ongoing diagnosis, which reduces exposure and monitors the mechanical and electronic stresses typically associated with conventional driving.

Optimal efficiency in field operation is ensured by a multi-function “all-in-one” joystick controlling hydraulics (up to 7 electro-hydraulic spool valves), electronic management of daily hours of operation, field and service registers via Landini Fleet Management protocol, as well as by the availability of real-time remote diagnosis. All of this can be conveniently managed from the tractor fleet manager’s To find your local dealer please visit: desk. Introducing this technology brings many advantages. Forage acid loading predicted to be high in TMR’s this winter

Early forage analyses suggest the acid loading effect of many grass and maize silages will be high within TMR’s this winter underlying acid load is likely to act as an anchor on farms trying to cut feed costs unless it is addressed within a TMR. “It’s a real drag because whatever combination of increased yield or lower concentrate use is being pursued, success can only be achieved by increasing intakes and digestion of the forage components of the diet. And to do that you must limit the excess ration acidity load.” “Whilst many grass silages are of higher overall D-value this year, they also have a set of characteristics that could make them difficult to utilise effectively,” points out Robert Cockroft from FiveF Alka. “With high levels of fermentable carbohydrate, care will be needed when feeding these grass silages. Not only are they already strongly acidic, they are likely to digest more like a concentrate feed and create even more excess acidity in the rumen. In addition, maize silages, whilst looking good in the main – as a consequence of the excellent summer growth season and weather at harvest – do tend to be low in lignin this year while also containing a high level of fermentable carbohydrate. This will also contribute to dairy cow diet acid loading.” Mr Cockroft says this 12 | AgriNews

FiveF Alka says that straightforward alkalisation of a TMR before it is fed to the cow simply addresses this issue. “For example, when added to damp forage sources, AlkabupHa pellets rapidly release ammonia to neutralise excess acid in the diet. Dietary inclusion will improve rumen performance and boost dry matter intake, as well as contribute extra protein and macro minerals to the cow ration. Mr Cockroft adds that AlkabupHa is actually 90% protein, but also contributes significantly to the calcium and magnesium requirements of the animal. “The formulation ensures excess acids in the diet are quickly turned into ammonium salts, which are then metabolised as a highly effective rumen degradable energy and protein source.

This improves rumen function, as well as helping to reduce the requirement for high protein feed ingredients like soya and rape meal,” he says. FiveF claims that the net cost of using AlkabupHa will only be between 5p and 15p per cow per day, after allowing for the underlying protein and mineral value it contributes to the diet. And this is before the benefit of any increased forage and feed intakes are factored in with regard to both cow performance and overall health.

Auto-regulating rollers at the front and side of the pick-up unit self-adjust their position according to crop thickness. These in turn pass a consistent and constant supply of forage to the merger belts, thus enabling the MERGE MAXX to produce a uniform, airy and faster-drying windrow which makes it easier for the subsequent baler or chopper to collect large volumes of grass: for forage harvesters this can equate to a 2-3km/h increase in forward operating speed.

The new MAXIMA 3 drills use an improved seed selection and ejection system which enables accurate seed placement at working speeds of up to 10km/h. Accuracy is also enhanced by a new seeding unit parallelogram which is reinforced in key areas, including at critical hinges and linkages, for added stability, robustness and longevity.

The MERGE MAXX 950 folds to 3.00m (width) by 7.40m (length) by 3.60m (height) for easy transportation between fields and is compatible for tractors with a minimum power output of 85hp. MAXIMA 3 – new generation precision seed drill Click on

Available in 6 to 12 row versions and capable of drilling crops with row spacings from 37.5 to 80cm, the new MAXIMA 3 range comprises 12 models in a choice of configurations including telescopic, trailed, foldable and telescopic with adjustable spacing.

A new coulter pressure system, capable of producing up to 180kg of downward pressure, also enhances seeding accuracy by ensuring consistent depth control. The MAXIMA 3 range also boasts an electrically driven seed metering system which allows application rates to be adjusted manually on the move or in accordance with a pre-prescribed seeding map. Extended ordering hours for same day tag despatch

Allflex has announced that it has exrended its cut-off time for the same day despatch of replacement cattle ear tags Allflex has announced that it has extended its cut-off time for the same day despatch of replacement cattle ear tags, with all orders made before 4:30pm guaranteed to be sent out by first class post on the day they are ordered. “Feedback from our customers tells us that the later deadline time could make a significant difference to busy livestock farmers who need to order replacement ear tags in a hurry,” explains Ashley Musgrave, General Manager of Allflex UK.

16 | AgriNews

“The majority of tag suppliers in the UK have cut-off times between 2pm and 3pm, or in extreme circumstances 4:00pm. Unfortunately these early deadlines can hamper the movement of cattle, so we have extended our own cut-off time to 4:30pm. This will make it easier for farmers to acquire replacement tags at short notice – either in order to take advantage of fluctuating market prices, or simply to enable them to take cattle to shows or auction marts.”

As long as the tags are successfully authorised by BCMS (British Cattle Movement Service), Allflex guarantees that any order placed before 4:30pm will be despatched on the same day.

Bronze medal for Case IH in 2019 SIMA Innovation Awards

Novel XPower electrical weed control system wins bronze medal for Case IH in 2019 SIMA Innovation Awards. System is part of a suite of new precision technologies from Case IH / Possibility to eliminate need for chemical application / Overcomes issues with other forms of weed control – cost, complexity, crop damage potential / Efficacy unaffected by weather A novel system which uses electrical current to control weeds and which is to be marketed as part of a suite of new Case IH precision farming technologies is the winner of a bronze medal in the Innovation Awards given by the SIMA organisers in advance of the 2019 show in Paris. Developed by Swiss firm Zasso Group, the ‘electroherbicide’ technology, branded under the XPower name by Case IH, has been developed in response to the need to find more sustainable solutions for weed control, according to Maxime Rocaboy Product Marketing Manager at Case IH. “Digital herbicide technology is at least as efficient as chemical herbicides in terms of controlling weeds, and is more efficient, economic, practical and cropsafe than mechanical weeding, in addition to which it does not disturb the soil and encourage further weed growth,” he suggests. “At the same time, it is more practical, safer and cheaper than scorching or burning systems used for total weed or haulm control.”

18 | AgriNews

How it works The XPower system essentially converts mechanical energy into electrical energy, substituting chemicals for high-energy electrons, applied through the weed leaves and working down through to the roots, explains Mr Rocaboy. The application technology itself is modular, for maximum flexibility, and can be tailored to suit specific crop geometries and needs. “Mounted on a tractor or its implement at a working width of 1.2-3.0m, its weed contact unit(s) create a high voltage. With the aid of a sensor and/or camerabased guidance system, XPower, controlled by the tractor’s Class 3 ISOBUS system, transfers this voltage via one element on contact with the weed leaves which stand proud of the crop or ground, whereupon it travels down to the roots. Another element touching another weed closes the electrical circuit and the weed chlorophyll is damaged immediately. The system is as effective on larger weeds as smaller ones.

reduction that is occurring in the number of available herbicides, and the lack of new ones coming through. And in addition, there are no concerns over compatibility with the crop concerned – providing the system can treat weeds growing above the crop, they will be controlled.” The dwindling number of chemical herbicides and low number of new products coming through is playing a large part in the growing problem of weed resistance to herbicide active ingredients, points out Mr Rocaboy, and balancing resistance management with the need for effective control is an ongoing challenge. “Using the electrical weed control, on its own or in conjunction with chemical and/ or mechanical weed control, overcomes many of these issues in an economic manner and without requiring long approval procedures. Cargill has aquired Colombian-based Campollo, one of the country’s leading producers of chicken and protein products

The acquisition marks the expansion of Cargill’s global protein business in Colombia after acquiring Pollos Bucanero in June 2017. Campollo has more than 20 years’ experience in the market and its products are a top choice among consumers and retailers across Colombia. Jorge Ivan Duque, general manager of Cargill’s Pollos Bucanero, will continue leading Cargill’s expanded poultry business in Colombia. Campollo reaches millions of customers across the country. The acquisition complements and enhances our product portfolio and expands our current reach to more of the Colombian market. I´m confident this will be a smooth integration that will benefit our employees, customers, consumers and communities,” Duque said. “We are committed to this region and I´m thrilled to expand

Agri-Tech Innovation Hub opens in midlands to develop technology

Agri-Tech Innovation Hub opens in midlands to develop robots, sensors and satellite technology. A multi-million-pound hub for the development, testing and sharing of technologies to boost productivity in farming and the food supply chain has opened in the Midlands following Innovate UK investment. Agri-EPI Centre has developed the £4.4 million research & development facility in close partnership with Harper Adams University. Located on the University’s campus in Shropshire, the hub will bring together researchers, technology and engineering companies and food businesses, from farmers right through to retailers. A priority for the new hub is to encourage farmer uptake of innovative technologies to increase the overall benefits to UK agriculture. Experts will explore how robotics, lasers, sensors and satellite technology may benefit farmers. Such technologies are being researched by Harper Adams and others in conjunction with industry partners, to be tested further through the Agri-EPI Centre network. The new hub pursues Innovate UK’s own ambition to develop and incubate new high-tech start-up business in a rapidly growing market (compound growth of over 15% pa). It is creating a high-tech asset that

has already secured one high value tenant – TAFE Tractors from India. The hub was officially opened on 29 November by Sam Gyimah MP, Minister for Universities, Science, Research and Innovation, who said: “The innovations being considered by Agri-EPI Centre will revolutionise farming as we know it and make it more profitable than ever before. “Our agricultural sector is the biggest industrial sector in the UK and our farmers are multi-skilled – they are investor, environmentalists and scientists. We need to make sure these skills keep pace with the growth of new technologies which is why we have invested £90 million through our modern Industrial Strategy to put the UK at the forefront of these innovations and boost productivity.” Agri-EPI Centre chief executive Dave Ross said: “By bringing together experts spanning different disciplines and sectors, Agri-EPI seeks to unlock exciting opportunities for the development and testing of new ideas and technologies of potential benefit to farmers and the rest of the food supply chain. Our new Midlands hub is one of four ground-breaking facilities we will be running across the UK to really push forward new thinking and technologies that

can boost the productivity, sustainability and profitability of the agri-food industry.” Harper Adams Vice-Chancellor, Dr David Llewellyn, said: “There are considerable opportunities to grow the agri-technology sector through the work of the AgriEPI Centre and the facilities being formally opened today. The Government has recognised the importance of this new sector by designating nearby Telford as a High Potential Opportunity area for inward investment in agritechnologies, and our Local Authority and the Marches LEP have identified agri-tech as a strategic priority, based on our activities and those of the AgriEPI network. Ian Cox, Innovate UK Innovation Lead for the AgriTech Centres said: “Ultimately, this is about the successful transfer of new technologies, and the skills for their use, into farming practice to improve productivity, profitability and environmental performance in food production. Working with the Agri-EPI Centre team we are committed to achieving these objectives.” The new hub offers a 500m2 workshop space equipped with tools, rapid prototyping equipment and fabrication facilities, along with office space for rent.

Farmers aim to end Britain’s obsession with large eggs

Farmers are asking British consumers to eat a range of egg sizes rather than always reaching for a box of large. The British Free Range Egg Producers Association (BFREPA) is launching a campaign to show consumers that hens naturally lay a range of sizes and to ask them to align their shopping habits. About 13billion eggs are eaten in Britain every year and BFREPA says shoppers prefer to buy large or very large eggs rather than medium or mixed weight boxes. The resulting supply imbalance is exacerbated in years such as 2018 when hot weather leads to hens eating less food, leaving them laying eggs which are graded as medium. James Baxter, a free range

egg farmer and chairman of BFREPA, says a change in buying habits would be better for hens and farmers.

or mixed weight boxes of eggs which contain medium and large eggs. It supports what hens lay naturally.”

“Hens naturally lay smaller eggs when they are younger and the size increases as birds get bigger,” he said.

BFREPA’s campaign began with the launch of a video featuring free range egg farmer Susie Macmillan and her 18,000 organic free range hens.

“Every day half the eggs laid by British free range hens are classed as large or very large, which means that half are medium or small. “But consumer preference means medium eggs – which are just as nutritious and tasty – are worth less at the farm gate and more will be sent for processing rather than sold as a fresh shell egg. “We would love to see more consumers buying medium

She explains the main difference between a medium and a large egg is not the size of the yolk – where the bulk of the nutritional value is contained – but simply a greater quantity of white. More than 30,000 people watched the video on Facebook in the first 72 hours with dozens pledging to make the change to medium or mixed weight boxes. BFREPA plans to ramp up the campaign throughout the winter, including the run up to Christmas where the number of eggs bought and consumed spikes.

Effective Poultry House Cleaning Steve Birchall Poultry House Cleaning Services High pressure powerwashing, disinfectant and cleaners With the poultry industry experiencing more than its fair share of problems over the past 12 months or so no poultry producer can afford to hinder flock performance by allowing a build up of micro organisms. Even low disease levels drag profits back and skimping on the cleaning routine between flocks is false economy, says Lancashire based cleaning specialist Steve Birchall. “There is no opportunity these days to rest buildings between flocks. Turnaround times are tight and it is, therefore, vital that buildings are not only throughly cleaned but disinfected as well, and if there has been a problem

the cleaning and disinfection treatment should take account of it” says Steve, who has been operating a nationwide poultry contract shed cleaning business for over 30 years. His three teams are equipped to carry out whatever cleaning regime producers require and he suggests a good standard routine for anyone who wants the best safeguard. After the litter has been removed, the building and any equipment either retained inside or taken out should be power washed at about 2,500 psi with a combined cleaner/ sanitizer/deodorizer, which should remove some of the 80% of micro organisms at this stage.

“Older buildings are often more difficult to clean than modern ones”, Steve says, “However, if you are going to do the job at all, then it is worth doing properly and you have to take sufficient time, particularly in breeder or laying units where nest boxes and equipment have been in place for 12 months or more. Broiler units with a six or seven day turnaround are less difficult. However, people who prefer to do what is a rather unpleasant job themselves often get rather jaded before it has been done properly. If there are other enterprises on the farm, they have to keep breaking off to do other work.

ATVTrac chosen by TGB as official security supplier ATVTrac is delighted to agree terms with expanding ATV and offroad vehicle brand, TGB, receiving endorsement for its renowned tracking device, now available for fitment across the entire TGB range. Successfully proven in the motorcycle market, where theft is an ever increasing problem for owners, the same team turned their attention to the ATV and powersports market in 2012, bringing functions to the industry that were not previously available, setting the benchmark in the process. ATVTrac’s Rupert Archer Smith commented, “We are delighted to agree terms with TGB and very pleased to see them taking security so seriously. On top of the security element, we’ve worked hard to make ATVTrac a truly useful asset, enabling single users and large estate operators to make use of its additional functions too.” As well as Thatcham approved security that protects owner’s machines via GPS, GPRS and RF technology, ATVTrac utilises the same technology to keep workers and riders safe too, with handy functions like ATV Over, that can text or email a colleague or loved one,

should the ATV topple over with the ignition turned on. ATVTrac’s onboard technology is backed up by a Secure Operating Centre (SOC), who monitor movements 24/7, seven days a week, liaising with owners and police should a theft occur. TGB UK representative, Henry Maplethorpe, added, “Theft is an ever present threat for customers and so we were keen to offer a trusted solution. While there are many types of security product on the market, we believe that tracking is really the only effective solution. Having seen both the functionality and success of ATVTrac, with their wide-ranging experience in other sectors, we were delighted to agree terms with them.” ATVTrac has a recommended retail price of £332.50 + VAT, with the first year’s subscription included. Subsequent year subscription costs are £8.33+VAT per month via direct debit or as follows: 1 year – £82.50, 2 year – £149.17, 3 – year £190.83. ATVTrac has no other hidden costs, all text notifications and emails are included in the subscription cost. For further information please visit www.atvtrac. co.uk

Key features Stealth Installation All authorised ATVTrac dealers are trained to ensure that your unit is installed in the most covert location possible, giving the best levels of protection and adhering to Thatcham’s high security standards - it's essential.

Self Maintaining ATVTrac has its own internal battery, so it doesn’t rely solely on the machine’s own battery for power. If it detects a drop in the machine’s voltage, you’ll receive a helpful text to tell you so. The internal battery lasts for up to 30 days.

24-7 Operations Center Our secure operating centre doesn’t sleep, so you’re protected 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If the unthinkable happens, our team contact you via text, phone and email and then liaise directly with the authorities to pinpoint your machine.

Real-time Monitoring Once you’ve registered your ATVTrac unit you have total control, 24/7. Edit your details, add co-workers for notifications and even select the voltage threshold for receiving low battery notifications. Sending a lone-worker out on a remote job? Keep an eye on their location for peace of mind or send your nearest machine to the next job by monitoring more than one tracked machine on the app.

Six reasons to come and see the newest addition to the Can-Am off-road line up BRP will be highlighting power, performance, comfort, capability, versatility and innovation at Lamma 2019 with an exclusive debut BRP (Bombardier Recreational Products) will be highlighting power, performance, comfort, capability, versatility and innovation at LAMMA 2019 with the exclusive UK debut of the Can-Am Outlander 6x6 450 T, the latest addition to Can-Am off-road’s 2019 utility vehicle portfolio. The 2019 Can-Am Outlander 6x6 450 T has been designed and developed to enable users to be more efficient when doing the toughest jobs on the farm and have the ability to handle the constantly changing terrains out in the field with ease. The new Can-Am Outlander 6x6 450 T is powered by the reliable 38 hp singlecylinder, liquid-cooled Rotax 450 engine and comes with industry-leading towing capacity (1,650 lb/750 kg), front and rear racks with cargo extenders, and LinQ accessory attachment points. Its Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT)

is calibrated to ensure that it always delivers the optimal torque output, no matter where it is or what it is being used for. The engine braking automatically reduces the speed of the ATV when going downhill and the extra low L-gear makes it easier for the user to manoeuvre the ATV when pulling a trailer or when it is driving in deep mud. In addition, the Visco-Lok system front differential system requires no buttons to push or levers to be held in order to engage it and once the 6x6 option is selected, the system intelligently transfers power from the slipping front wheel to the opposing wheel with traction. The Can-Am Outlander 6x6 450 T will be centre piece of Can-Am’s workhorse agricultural all terrain (ATV) and side by side vehicles (SSV) on display. Other models will include the CanAm Outlander 450, 570 PRO and 570 DPS ABS, and a selection of vehicles from the

tough, capable and clever Can-Am Traxter range. James Dalke, BRP commercial manager UK and Ireland, says, “LAMMA is a key event for us as it attracts a wideranging group of utility users to whom we can introduce the breadth of the off-road lineup and showcase how these vehicles can assist them in their day-to-day work. It also provides us with the perfect platform from which we can highlight how we see ATVs and SSVs evolving and the ways in which our R&D team is working to meet the demands of the UK utility market. This is highlighted by the fact that on our stand this year we will be giving visitors their first look at the new Outlander 6x6 450 T, an exciting addition to our offroad portfolio that we believe will enable us to increase our overall market share.” For more information visit www.brp.com and www. lammashow.com

T

he 2019 Kawasaki Mule Pro-MX is built around a smaller chassis than the rest of the Mule Pro family, which should translate into better performance in tighter spaces. Kawasaki’s 2019 off-road lineup has been unveiled, which features a series of carryover models along with a single new one – the 2019 Kawasaki Mule Pro-MX. Kawasaki has had a lot of success with the Mule

Pro family since it was introduced a few years ago and all have shared the same full-size chassis. What sets the Kawasaki Mule Pro-MX apart is its size. Built for two people, the Pro-MX is almost a full foot shorter and four inches narrower than the Mule Pro-FXR. Full measurements include a length of 110 inches, width of 60 inches and height of 74.4 inches. Despite the shorter length, the wheelbase is not even an inch shorter than the Mule

Pro-FXR at 78.9 inches so they share a similar turning radius of approximately 14 feet. Another bit change on the Kawasaki Mule Pro-MX is the engine. While the rest of the gas-powered Mule Pro models feature an 812cc three-cylinder engine, the Pro-MX relies on a 695cc single-cylinder engine.

The utility of choice for many professionals such as farmers, gamekeepers and all grounds-care experts, the two machines at the top of the Kawasaki MULE series will carry the new name PRO for 2016.
