Zetor introduces the new Crystal with six-cylinder engine

The traditional Czech producer of agricultural machinery, ZETOR TRACTORS a.s., has expanded its line of modern tractors by a new model called the CRYSTAL. After a long period of time, the ZETOR CRYSTAL is the first tractor of the brand’s portfolio that has a six-cylinder engine with an output of 144 and 163 horsepower. Furthermore, the new model excels in easy operation as well as low maintenance and operation costs. By introducing the new tractor, the number of model lines of the ZETOR brand has expanded from three to four. The ZETOR CRYSTAL will stand out its red wheels; ZETOR plans to gradually extend this element to all of its products. “Our goal is to continually increase the added value of our tractors and the ZETOR CRYSTAL is another example of this. Tractors from the CRYSTAL line are now the strongest machines in our product offering, coming with a six-cylinder engine after a long time. Their main characteristics are power, durability and effectiveness, which will be appreciated especially by owners of large farms,” says David Kollhammer, Technical Director at ZETOR TRACTORS a.s., about the new model. The key novelty of the ZETOR CRYSTAL is a highperformance six-cylinder engine produced by DEUTZ

AG, equipped with 24 valves and common rail injection. The robust engine block is a compact part of the tractor’s supporting structure that is able to withstand high loads exerted by mounted equipment. The engine’s constant power delivery increases productivity and lowers consumption. Other technical novelties of the CRYSTAL model include an extended wheelbase, which is 2,840 mm and adds to the tractor’s better stability in comparison with other tractors in this horsepower class. BFREPA Conference

Record number of exhibitors set to attend

Record number of Delegates and Exhibitors set to attend the 24th Annual BFREPA Conference This year’s BFREPA conference, hosted and organised by ForFarmers, is set to welcome the largest number of exhibitors in the events history and can boast an excellent speaker line up, with a range of highly relevant topics covered in four presentations. Speakers include Jez Cooper of Freedom Food, Alan Wilkinson from HSBC, BFREPA Vic-chairman James Baxter. They will be joined by Countryfile’s Adam Henson, who will also present the Free Range Awards, sponsored by Elanco and announced by Alan Dedicot, the voice of the National Lottery. The event has grown from strength to strength in its 24 year history, and currently sees around 500 delegates attending the popular one day event, demonstrating the success of the Free Range Egg conference and making it the largest event of its kind. ForFarmers, who have hosted and organised the BFREPA conference for the last nine years have driven positive change to the event and their

support of BFREPA has meant the event has grown from strength to strength. In 2012 the conference was moved from its previous home at Stoneleigh, Warwickshire, to its current home at the National Motorcycle Museum to accommodate for the growing number of delegates and exhibitors. “The growth of the event is reﬂective of the success of the Free Range Egg industry and the subsequent increase in Free Range Egg producers” says Mr John Cessford, Marketing Manager of ForFarmers responsible for the organisation of the event. “The outstanding success of the industry has meant 2015 sees record numbers of companies wishing to exhibit their products and services at the conference” adds Mr Cessford. New website is at the hub of UK farming

Farming is an industry steeped in tradition but more farmers than ever are turning to the web to run their businesses. It is more important than ever to think about farming differently with produce prices falling and costs increasing, farmers need a site that thinks differently. Not just your standard listings but a dynamic approach to selling and buying. Farming Hub is the brain child of Pembrokeshire farmer Lawrence Couzens who in 2012 conceived an idea for a new format of farming website, simplifying the process of buying and selling. This led to the launch of Farming Hub, an online hub for farmers to buy and sell initially farm machinery. â&#x20AC;&#x153;I have worked in agriculture for over 21 years and have always found it difficult to find

the farm equipment I required. I just wanted to go to one site and find the machine or part I needed,â&#x20AC;&#x2122;â&#x20AC;&#x2122; explained Lawrence, who worked on farms before returning home to the family farm in Pembrokeshire. Farming Hub was launched January 2013, we now have almost 10,000 twitter followers, a huge following on facebook, and the site has a comprehensive selection of traders with a good selection of equipment. Farminghub.co.uk has been such a success it is having an updated to offer more, the updated site will be available in October, we will be adding to the site to make it a true Hub for farmers. We are always delighted to receive feedback.

Horsch to return to MMS

LINCOLNSHIRE agriculture giants Horsch will be returning to the annual Midlands Machinery Show this November. One of the leading farming manufacturers based in Bourne will be bringing its two most popular sowing and cultivation products, Pronto DC and Joker RT, to be displayed at the show on 25 and 26 November. The Show, now in its second year, continues to grow and Horsch was keen to attend the event held at Newark Showground, to meet potential customers. Horsch general manager Stephen Burcham said: “We were at the show last year and it was great for us and we feel it’s important to have a presence there again. “With 5,000 in attendance last year and hopefully more potential this year, it’s an important event for us and one we strategically want to be a part of. “We had some excellent feedback last year and plenty of enquiries which is key to our business in our most quiet period year. “The show is becoming recognised as a great place to get in the eye-line of potential customers, meet existing traders and network with key innovators in the industry. We feel it is certainly

worth attending.” The event expects to have between 150 to 160 stands over the two days and trade space is running out fast. George Taylor, Show Manager, said: “We are excited that we are attracting high calibre clientele such as Horsch again to the show. “Horsch is a huge company who deal with businesses all over Europe, so we are obviously delighted to welcome them back “We hope to exceed the number of traders and exhibitors from last year’s event, with indoor space being very close to selling out – we are now almost full in our third exhibition hall. The deadline for entries is at the end of October, so we encourage companies to book now and avoid disappointment.” Visitors will be able to choose from a programme of technical seminars which will see industry experts discuss relevant issues. Awards for the best trade stands will also be taking place including Best Agricultural Stand, Best Overall Stand and Best Non Machinery Stand. Visitor entry and parking is free. Trade space will remain available until the close of booking for the catalogue on 30 October 2015.

Zetor Crystal to be launched at Midlands Machinery Show

Flach & Le-Roy Ltd â&#x20AC;&#x201C; Crop/Woodchip Drying Systems Founded in 1993 by Richard Flach and Owen Le-Roy, together the partners have over 50 years experience in the crop drying and storage business. Their speciality is high quality drive-on flooring and box-store ventilation and conditioning systems. Based on the near-ambient drying method Flach & Le-Roy's drive-on floor drying system is fully automated, having fans and burners controlled via humidity sensors in the air duct and fan house. The drying rate for cereals is up to half a percent every 24 hours and the fans deliver air through the crop at between 20 and 24 feet per minute depending on stack height. Offloading the grain trailer into the store is time and labour saving and the crop needs no stirring. More recent application of the drying-floor system is the preparation of woodchip for biomass heating systems. Top AgriScot dairy cattle on the world stage

The dairy cattle judging at next month’s AgriScot farm business event is set to take place before a world-wide audience. For the first time this year, the judging of the dairy cattle in the HSBC Show Ring at AgriScot will be live streamed on the internet. AgriScot’s Martin Dare explains: “We have been encouraged in recent years by comments from our judges and other leading figures affirming that AgriScot now hosts the premier show of dairy cattle anywhere in the British Isles.” “The decision to showcase these exceptional animals to a world-wide audience is a natural next step.” A new sponsorship package has been established with Anpario plc to support the filming and live-streaming of the entire day’s programme direct from the show ring. Anpario plc are best known in the UK for their Optivite range of high performing natural feed additives for livestock. Hayley Verney from Anpario stated: “We thought that the revolutionary idea of filming and streaming the day’s events was a sponsorship opportunity not to be missed. It’s very exciting to be involved with the very first web streaming of such a prestigious industry event and I feel honoured to be presenting an award in the ring on the day.” The man tasked with selecting the best from the best in the cattle classes at AgriScot this year also

brings a global ﬂavour. Well known Ayrshire and Holstein breeder Alan Timbrell may only be based 350 miles away in Gloucestershire but, to-date his judging career has taken him to mainland Europe, and following AgriScot his next stop is New Zealand. Mr Timbrell, who works full-time for Alta Genetics, runs pedigree herds of Ayrshires, Holsteins and Polled Herefords with his wife and mother at Glebe Farm near Cirencester. Speaking on his appointment at AgriScot, Mr Timbrell said: “I have been judging shows for over thirty years and been on the Holstein & Ayrshire official judges list’s for 20yrs “I have been very fortunate in my life to judge in Finland. Where I judged the Ayrshire National show 2011 and also well I was there I judged the All Breeds National Dairy Handlers Competition.” “I have judged at many of the ‘Royal’ shows in the UK and I have been very honoured over the years to be asked by both Holstein, Ayrshire and Jersey Society’s to officiate at their National Judging School’s.” “AgriScot has a tremendous reputation as being a first class show for dairy cattle. I am delighted to have the opportunity to judge there and I am looking forward to it immensely.” “I think it is fantastic that Anpario are supporting the AgriScot team to stream the judging worldwide.” “My only fear is if I make a mistake, not only will I have a Scottish audience to face, but if the New Zealand Dairy Event Team see it, they might decide to cancel my invitation.”

Agritechnica Show What’s new on the stand at Agritechnica?

With now just a few days to go until the start of the 2015 Agritechnica show then Hall 9, Stand G14 is the place to head straight for on your arrival in Hannover. In a new location this year and with a stand bigger and better than ever, there are 30 or more bits of kit and systems to come and have a look at on the Stand. Behind those headline-grabbing silver medal winning innovations, there is also an impressive array of new products: For soil tillage then the monstrous Catros+ 12003-2TS is the immediate eye-catcher. Weighing in at just shy of 13 tons, the four-section folding machine can be operated at either 7m or 12 m in the field but folds down to just 3 m on the road, air braking means that 40 km/h is also possible. The ContourFrame system means it follows the field undulations perfectly. Based on the proven Catros+ disc system with its 510mm serrated discs carried on sealed for life oil-immersed, maintenance-free hubs, the machine is capable of working shallow for creating that perfect stale seedbed or down to 15 cm for medium-deep incorporation. It is also perfectly happy being used after the plough for seedbed preparation. Alongside the ﬂagship 12 m is the new range of trailed Catros models – 4002-2TS, 5002-2TS and 6002-2TS with its braked bogey chassis and expanded following roller range. Talking of following rollers the new U-Profile and Double U-Profile rollers will be shown alongside the Matrix 650 wedge ring roller and for the drill the new Cracker-Disc roller. There is a roller for all seasons

with Amazone. Following on from the success of the Cenius TX trailed mulch cultivators, the new Cenius 3003 Super will now adopt the pressure spring stone safety system from its bigger siblings as well as an extended range of share options now for the Cenius programme. And don’t forget inversion tillage as the Cayron plough will also be shown with auto reset legs and a wider range of plough bodies. Spreaders go increasingly hi-tech with the new Argus Twin spread pattern monitoring and adjustment system on the ZA-TS. Gone are the days of worrying about whether the product has changed from the previous batch or the fact that we even tested this fertiliser sort at all. The radar sensors keep the spread pattern in check continually. The new ZA-V range is also broadened. Individual nozzle shut-off and in-cab nozzle selection with automatic switch over of nozzle size and type is now possible with AmaSelect, seen here at the show on the 12,000 litre trailed UX 11200 as well as the first showing of the 30 m boom now on the UF. JCB – the world's number one manufacturer of telescopic handlers – will unveil an array of new developments to its Loadall range at Agritechnica 2015, including its innovative Tier 4 Final engine strategy and improvements to two popular Agri models which will boost productivity and performance and make them easier to use. The first JCB telehandlers for European markets with the new engine are the 531-70, 536-60, 536-70, 541-70 and high-lift 535-95; and the high productivity 550-80 and 560-80 bulk handling telescopics. Also at Agritechnica 2015 JCB will unveil a package of enhancements to the 526-56 and 527-58 Agri models. JCB Agriculture MD Richard Fox-Marrs said: "Agritechnica is a key date in the industry calendar and we are delighted to be showing some of the innovative developments to our Loadall product, which is the world's biggest selling agricultural telescopic handler." Innovative Tier 4 Final strategy (531-70, 536-60, 536-70, 541-70, 535-95, 550-80, 560-80) The introduction of the new engine will build on the success of the highly efficient JCB EcoMAX T4i engine that is in use in many JCB machines. EcoMAX engines in Agri Loadalls will meet stringent Tier 4 Final/Stage IV emissions legislation using a compact, highly efficient SCR system for NOx reduction. JCB’s Tier 4 Final/Stage IV solution for Agri Loadall engines will offer: * Easy installation without affecting visibility or machine size * A compact one can SCR exhaust solution * The ability for JCB dealers to de-emissionise for the used equipment market outside regulated territories ‘One Can’ SCR Solution Agri Loadalls with 109hp, 125hp and 145hp (81kW, 93kW and 108kW) will feature a compact selective catalytic reduction (SCR) unit with a Urea-based additive, incorporated into a single exhaust mufﬂer inside the bonnet, replacing the existing exhaust silencer which is outside the bonnet. This ensures that JCB Loadalls retain their excellent all-round visibility and ease of serviceability. Smart Hydraulics package The Tier 4 Final machines will also be boosted by the new option of high ﬂow auxiliary, improving performance and output of hydraulically

demanding attachments such as straw spreaders and silage clamp defacers – max ﬂow is increased to 105 l/min @ 190 bar pressure. In addition, the Agri Super models will now come as standard with a seat-mounted servo joystick which moves up and down with the seat. This will also be an option on the Agri Plus models. These new features enhance further the recently-introduced Smart Hydraulics package that brings improved productivity and fuel economy by allowing faster boom operation at lower engine speeds. JCB’s unique regenerative hydraulics system improve cycle times by up to 20 %, while delivering a 15% reduction in the amount of fuel used to move the same amount of material. Also part of the Smart Hydraulics package are end-of-stroke damping on boom lift and retraction, and a new ‘auto’ mode for the boom’s Smooth Ride System (SRS). With ‘auto’ selected, SRS disengages when the handler is stationary and automatically re-engages when the machine moves off. The Bucket Control System eliminates the need for an operator to make repeated joystick movements to shift sticky materials from a grab or bucket, to meter grain from a bucket with precision or to progressively shake grass or maize from a fork on a silage clamp. When engaged, it emulates the operator’s manual shaking action, with sideways deﬂection of the joystick determining the intensity of movement of the attachment. Changing attachments is also easier thanks to an auxiliary hydraulics venting valve, operated by a button in the cab.

The Tier 4i compliant, 3620 cm³, four-cylinder DEUTZ TCD 3.6 L04 engine features turbo-intercooler forced induction and common rail fuel injection. Tier 4i compliance was achieved by adopting an EGR exhaust gas recirculation system in conjunction with a special DOC (Diesel Oxidation Catalyst) catalytic converter, which catalyses chemical reactions within the exhaust gases on contact to transform them into harmless substances. The technologically advanced DOC system differs from conventional FAP filters (which produce harmful exhaust back-pressures) and SCR (which needs additives such as AdBlue to trigger selective catalytic reduction) is the ideal solution as it does not require energy-costly regeneration cycles, maintenance-free and small enough for installation even on compact tractors. Another factor contributing to the extraordinary productivity of this series of tractors is a practically ﬂat torque curve between 1200 and 1900 rpm, which ensures a torque reserve of over 30% throughout the range of engine speeds used in the majority of agricultural applications. At higher engine speeds, power remains constant within the band from 1800 to 2200 rpm, for progressive, smooth operation even during jobs with very high power demands. The electronic engine governor eliminates fuel wastage, by delivering only the power effectively needed for the job in hand. A modular, efficient transmission. The transmission configuration of the DEUTZFAHR 5 series has been conceived from the outset for modularity. The base configuration, offered in 5100I5110I5120|5130 models, consists of a synchromesh five speed, two range mechanical gearbox with hydraulic Power Shuttle, for a total of ten forward and reverse speeds. Behind those headline-grabbing silver medal winning innovations, there is also an impressive array of new products: For soil tillage then the monstrous Catros+ 120032TS is the immediate eye-catcher. Weighing in at just shy of 13 tons, the four-section folding machine can be operated at either 7m or 12 m in the field but folds down to just 3 m on the road, air braking means that 40 km/h is also possible. The ContourFrame system means it follows the field undulations perfectly. The Sustainable Farm Pavilion which has already attracted more than half a million visitors, achieved recognition in the framework of the "Towards a sustainable Expo" initiative promoted by the Italian Ministry for the Environment aimed at promoting the adoption of sustainable solutions by the main protagonists of Expo Milano 2015. On Thursday 1 October, Expo Milano 2015 hosted the final ceremony of the "Towards a sustainable Expo" initiative promoted by the Ministry for the Environment in collaboration with Expo 2015 S.p.A., aimed at incentivising the participants to adopt solutions developed around the maximum sustainability and to recognize the best results. The ceremony was attended by the Italian Minister for the Environment Gian Luca Galletti, the Commissioner of Expo Milano 2015 Giuseppe Sala and the Acting Director, Regional Office for Europe of UNEP, United Nations Environment Programme, Jan Dusik, and marked the end of a rigorous evaluation of more than 80 entries received from 39 participants in four categories: 23 countries and 16 partners and civil society organisations. The New Holland Agriculture pavilion was heralded as the leader in the Design & Construction category, together with Austria, Brazil, Monaco, Coca-Cola and Save The Children. The initiative's promoters expressed their satisfaction with the design and construction solutions adopted by New Holland to minimise the environmental impact of the pavilion, maximise energy and water consumption efficiency, use renewable energy sources and facilitate the removal and complete re-use of the structures. The title of leader was gained thanks also to the decisive contribution of the drywall construction system, which employed prefabricated components assembled on site, without the use of mortar, cement or any other form of binder and hence without using water resources. The decision to build the entire structure, including the foundations, around a steel frame, resulted in

a significant reduction in construction times, with a cleaner and more rationally organised work site, reducing the overall environmental impact right from the initial set-up stages and eliminating any need for demolition work at the end of the event. Unanimous praise was also received for the numerous coordinated solutions adopted in the outdoor and indoor spaces of the New Holland pavilion. A special note of merit was awarded to the pavilion's grass roof, designed to reduce heat absorption during the daytime, the rainwater harvesting system employed to obtain water for irrigation of the grass roof, the reconstruction for successive deployment of the pavilion and the merchandising offering developed around the use of recycled materials. Thanks to its advanced design and sustainable building solutions, the New Holland Agriculture's Sustainable Farm Pavilion has also been appreciated by the Expo Milano 2015 visitors. Early October, at the time of the ceremony, more than half a million people visited the building. This success underlines New Holland's commitment to get the general public closer to the world of agricultural sustainable mechanisation and to the efforts of its ultimate protagonists, the farmers.

Domestic systems normally involve a single small diameter (typically 100-200mm) abstraction well. Well depths vary depending on local geology. Closed Loop Residential / Domestic Systems Closed loop domestic systems typically involve drilling a single well for smaller dwellings, but can involve drilling several wells for larger properties. Wells are most commonly drilled up to 150 metres deep. These are smaller in diameter as compared to open loop wells and normally involve the installation of a 32mm or 40mm diameter HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) loop. Once installed, the HDPE loop is surrounded by a thermally enhanced pressure injected grout, which offers optimum thermal conduction. The loop is then filled with a Glycol/water solution and is pressure tested to confirm its integrity. Once the well/s have been installed, they are then connected to a GSHP (Ground Source Heat Pump) using pipework and manifolds installed within sub-surface trenches. Domestic dwellings typically have the GSHP installed in garages or utility rooms, however the heat pump can also be installed in an external cabinet if required. Once all of the components of the system have been installed and connected, the full system is pressure tested, commissioned and certified. The UK Government offers significant funding for ground source heat pump systems through the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI), Open Loop Commercial Systems Open loop wells are drilled at larger diameters than closed loop systems and are normally used for larger commercial premises. The open loop system comprises of a pair (or multiple pairs) of wells which are similar in construction to conventional water wells. A submersible pump is installed into one of the boreholes (the abstraction well) and then connected to the GSHP (Ground Source Heat Pump). Water is pumped from the abstraction well through the GSHP and then back in to the ground via the recharge well. An open loop system is more sustainable from a water usage point of view as the abstracted water is generally recharged into the ground via the second well. Open loop systems can service a large amount of heating and cooling depending on water volumes available from the below ground aquifer. Due to the volumes of water abstracted licencing is require from the Environment Agency for any wells drilled and then abstracted.
