Now that the winter weather has passed, warmer weather is ahead in the future forecast. But with warm weather comes the blooming plants and flowers, and what do plants bring? Pollen, which causes allergic reactions and the influenza. So, when you are wearing your shorts, T-shirts, and/or flip flops, keep in mind that at any moment you can get the flu. Influenza is a virus that infects the nose, throat, and the lungs. It spreads by touching a surface or object, and then touching the eyes, mouth, and/ or nose. Signs and symptoms of influenza are fever or feverish chills, coughing, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, muscle or body aches, headaches, fa-

However, there are ways to prevent getting the flu. First, make sure you avoid close contact with people who are sick or have any symptoms of being sick. Wash your hands consistently to protect yourself from germs, cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze, and try to keep from touching your nose, mouth and eyes because germs are spread when you touch something and then touch your face. If you are sick, STAY HOME! You don't want to spread your germs to everyone You can get vaccinated at your doctor’s office or at Walgreens. So as the flu spreads around, be mindful of what you touch, and remember to drink lots of fluids to keep your antibodies ready to fight against the flu.

The month of April is full of activity. It is a time to complete all class assignments, and recognize students for their accomplishments, which includes preparing for graduation. To our adult, commuter, and military students who are graduating, congratulations and good luck as you pursue your future endeavors. I was so pleased to see our non-traditional students honored during the Pinnacle Honor Society Induction Ceremony on April 10th. We extend a well- deserved congratulations to our graduate and undergraduate students who met the academic criteria for admissions to Pinnacle, a life time honor society. On Sunday, April 19, the Sorority and Fraternity Awards will offer an opportunity for the sororities and fraternities to be saluted for their leadership roles and involvement in Greek life. The following Sunday, April 26, undergraduate student leaders will be recognized at the President Leadership Awards for their labor as leaders, and their commitment to serve in various student organizations throughout the academic year. These events signify the university’s desire to recognize and encourage students for their ability to be involved in campus life, while excelling in their respective disciplines.

GET SOME SLEEP!!! Your brain and body needs to rest. Don’t try to pull an overnighter or you will CRASH during your exam.

CREATE A STUDY SCHEDULE! Space your learning into multiple days. Plan a month in advance at least so you won’t cram a lot of information at once.

FORM A STUDY GROUP OR STUDY WITH A PARTNER! Many people don’t like to study with others. However, sometimes it helps gathering information from other classmates that you may not have paid attention to. Quiz each other, break-up sections of the material and teach each other. This can be a big help if studying effectively.

REVIEW PREVIOUS TESTS! Looking over previous tests can be very helpful. You can see how your professor words questions, and/or how they want the questions to be answered. Also, sometimes professors put the same questions on the final exam from previous tests to make sure you learned the material.

RELAX! DON’T PANIC! Remember to eat, sleep, exercise, and take study breaks. Final exams are not meant to stress you out. As long as you are preparing and studying ahead of time, not the night before, you will be fine.
