A

uthor and life coach Moffat Machingura once said, “Follow your dreams. I am not saying it’s going to be easy, but I am saying it’s going to be worth it.” Jade Campbell is an inspirational young woman who did exactly that! At the young age of 16, Jade began dancing professionally. One of her first live performances was with veteran musical artiste, Leon Coldero at the Soca Monarch finals. Campbell recalled the experience as being intimidated. “I was surrounded by professional dancers so I had to bring my A game. One thing I knew was, I wanted to be a dancer/ performer so I just went out there and represented my all.” When asked what was the motivation behind becoming a dancer she stated “It was always my dream. I grew up looking at Michael Jackson on Beta Max and VHS tapes, and I always promised myself that I was going to ‘touch’ the performance/stage life

and I did!” Campbell further honed her skills with the Caribbean School of Dance and ELLE NYTT and is trained in ballet, modern and jazz. Dancing has allowed her to travel extensively, especially as one of Machel Montano’s Xtatik HD dancers. Her list of destinations extends to the rest of the Caribbean, the United States of America and Europe. Although Campbell admitted that her career as a dancer involved late night rehearsals and flying almost every week, it was “exciting, and working with Machel was very interesting.” Campbell also served as a backup dancer for the likes of Lil John, Destra, Patrice Roberts, Zan, Farmer Nappy, Aaron Fresh, Rocky, Lil Rick, and even Nicki Minaj for a music video. In January of this year, Campbell launched her very own ‘dancercise’ venture. Which is “a mixture

of all dance movements with typical aerobic routines.” According to Campbell, the inspiration behind this idea derived from her desire to share her talent and create a brand of her own. “I always wanted to share my talent but I did not want to open a dance school. To be honest EDAJ(EVERY ACCESSORY BY JADE) was born to make extra cash by selling jewelry and then after 16 long years of performing I decided to recreate the brand so EDAJ became (EVERY DANCE ACTION BY JADE ).” She admitted to watching various YouTube videos before creating her own ‘fun form of fitness.’ Although she admits that the real fulfillment of the entire venture is when she sees a smile on her client's faces. “When I see them sweating and more importantly the glee and enjoyment in their eyes, it makes every step of it worthwhile.” Each class starts off with a warm up then Campbell proceeds

to teaching a routine, which she choreographed herself. Thereafter she says, “We just drill it till we are tired and sweating. There are no professional dancers in my classes, but I know for a fact most feel like one after a session.” When Jade isn’t dancing (which is rarely) she is co-hosting with radio presenter, Jahmoun on Boom Champions 94.1. Though the opportunity was unexpected, she considers herself ‘truly blessed’ and is grateful for the new responsibilities. As far as future goals, Campbell has quite a few. Fortunately she shared some with us. “I have some additional plans for my brand EDAJ. However I am just working on a few logistics. With regards to radio and broadcasting Campbell states “the sky is the limit. I actually wanted to start an all-female sound system, but we will see how that goes,” she said with a hearty laugh. However she also had a piece of advice for the young people. She stresses the importance of hard work and staying positive, but more so she encourages them to choose a job they love, as they will never work a day in their life. Lastly she spoke about prayer, referring to it as an essential element to an individual’s success. Hit up the ‘EDAJ Facebook page to keep abreast of Campbell’s newest endeavours.

Showtime is at 7.00pm on Saturday 9th May 2015 and patrons can be expected to experience an unforgettable evening with the multi-Grammy winning, man with the Golden voice, Michael Bolton, belting out hits like “When a Man loves a Woman”, “How am I supposed to live without you”, “Time, love and tenderness”, “How can we be lovers” and many more. Bolton has to date recorded eight top ten albums and two number one singles on the Billboard charts, and has won multiple American Music Awards and two Grammy Awards. Joining him is another who is no stranger to T&T shores either, American soft rock artiste Richard Marx. The versatile songwriter/musician/producer who has to date sold over 30 million records had a stream of hit singles in the late 1980s and 1990s, including “Endless Summer Nights”, “Right Here Waiting”, “Now and Forever”, and “Hazard”. Although some of his major hit songs were ballads, many of his songs had a classic rock style, such as “Don’t Mean Nothing”, “Should’ve Known Better”, “Satisfied”, and “Too Late To Say Goodbye”. This will be Bolton’s fourth visit to T&T for “One night, One stage, One experience.” Promoters indicated that on each occasion, Bolton in particular has delivered an excellent performance, leaving audiences rapt and hungry for more. The 6 hour concert at Hasely Crawford Stadium is expected to be sold out, drawing patrons from neighbouring islands. The concert is supported by a wide range of sponsors including Angostura, Carib, NLCB, Coca Cola, Bmobile, Digicel, Toyota 2

ntertainer and song-writer, Devon “Fadda” Moses, is promoting his music abroad. After returning from a tour in London, his song titled “Sample”, produced by Millbeatz Entertainment and written by Moses, has taken over the United Kingdom. Moses made an appearance on the BBC Radio 1Xtra, while on tour in the UK, which he said was a marvelous experience. “It was nice to see people of different cultures and languages enjoying your music and the exposure overseas was great.” Moses describes what he thinks sets his song “Sample” apart from other types of dancehall music, “Some of the normal grammar you will hear in the average dancehall type music is not present, the beat is at a comfortable bpm that both young and old can listen to, the diction is clear, it can be sung word for word with4

out seeing the actual lyrics and I think this is what sets it apart from the rest,” he said. Moses big break came in 2009 when he joined the Millionaire Family and sang his song titled “Gyal Flex”. Moses dreamt of his songs playing on the airwaves abroad and the opportunity to perform internationally, this is now a reality. He also said, “The accomplishment thus far is truly humbling knowing that this is what you were working for all along”. This is not the end for me, he said. He has plans to visit, Can-

ada, Barbados, Guyana, Bahamas and St Vincent in 2015. Moses also connected with a prominent Trinidadian producer, Derrick “Wundah” Cyrus in the UK, who he plans to collaborate with for future songs. Driven by his passion and determination for music, and growing up with a musical background and family, his songwriting methods take different dimensions. Having a family of his own, Moses manages to balance his family life and musical career. Moses plans to release at least eight songs

for the year 2015. Known for his dancehall type music, Moses also plans to mix the genre of music for 2015, as he released a new track titled “Full Moon”. Working with different people and touring the Caribbean in previous years and now the UK, Moses has a song to release in April 2015, titled – “Smart Phone”, which is relevant to today’s society. Moses also plans to release two videos for his songs “Touch it” and “Double time”, and fans can expect a collaboration with J Capri. Moses can be found on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube and invites everyone to look out for more collaborations, music and videos.

The single, I’m Too Hot is primarily targeted towards his female audience as he hopes to set a strong tone among his fans and music lovers in anticipation of the album. Lawless was largely recorded in Miami and is produced by Madhouse Records producer, Dave Kelly, who has been Cham’s partner in crime since the late 1990s, when Cham first gained prominence while also under the tutelage of legendary deejay, Bounty Killer. Bounty features on the album as well as Damian ‘Jr. Gong’ Marley, Mykal Rose and his wife, Miss O. ning a tell-all book - including legal action. A source told RadarOnline: "Everyone knows that if Rob wrote a book, it would be an absolute gold mine… But Kris is willing to do whatever is needed to stop him and is prepared to fire off a cease and desist letter if she finds out that he is going to really start the process of doing this book." They added: "Kris does not want to do this to her son, but this book would be such a slap in the face and undoubtedly a best-seller." Since Rob posted the scary image of Rosamund Pike’s blood-soaked character Amy Dunne in thriller Gone Girl, claiming she was like his sister Kim, rumours of a rift have been rife. And the source also claimed Rob is mad at his mum after she sided with his sister Kim. Previous reports claimed the family knows Rob has a "funny sense of humour" and have shrugged off the post as "so dumb".

MODEL MANIA Name: Ebun Samuel Age: 24 Height: 5'6”

Hometown: St James Ebun is the mother of a beautiful girl, but motherhood surely did little to affect her awesome physique. Samuel is in the shape of her life and it’s no wonder she is one of the most in-demand models at the moment. With only a year under her belt (she made her start at Red Runway 2014), this model has secured promotional work with Angostura, Bmobile and Petlemas. Not to mention, Ebun has strutted her stuff in two music videos as well. So far she has worked extensively

with one photographer in Gregory Reyes, but she is looking forward to working with many more talented lensmen. Ebun says her future lies in fashion and it goes way beyond the runway. She wants to have a hand in everything from cosmetology, to hair styling and fashion design. Speaking of design, she credits Meiling Esau as her favourite style specialist. In terms of the things she doesn’t like: Ebun says her pet peeves are open-mouthed chewers and persons who touch you every

time they talk. This beauty with the bubbly personality says that it does take some work to stay in the prime form she is in. She attributes, walking, water consumption and sleep to her look and feel. As she parted, Samuel shared a ‘feel-sexy tip’ saying “It is important to wear clothes that fit your body type. Not because something looks good on someone else, means it would look the same on you. It’s always good to be mindful of that when you’re stepping out in public. Wear your clothes… don’t let it wear you.”

REBOUNDING TO HEALTHY HEIGHTS

WITH THIS NEW-AGE TREND

ow do you feel about your exercise equipment looking like a low, round coffee table? Size doesn’t matter according to instructors, who have assured that the workout can be as versatile as the imagination can conjure. Group fitness classes are using mini-trampolines to pump up the cardio without slamming the knees and joints. Sprints, running, jump rope style, lateral ski, and boxing moves, like jabs and hooks are all being done on the mini-trampoline. It is a lowimpact aspect of this form of exercise as it delivers less shock to your knees and joints. Some of the benefits to mini trampoline exercise: It’s an aerobic exercise It gives a full body workout It aids lymphatic circulation It speeds up metabolism It helps improve coordination It improves all over muscle tone It is low impact and is appropriate for people of all fitness levels. Starting out, as with any fitness routine, you should first do a warm-up. As a beginner, rebounding should be done at a slow-to-moderate pace. Only use the mini trampoline for a few minutes at a time to allow your muscles to become used to the exercise. The following four rebounder trampoline exercises should get you started.

1. BASIC BOUNCE This exercise can be as difficult as you want, depending on the effort you put into it. Stand in the center of the mini trampoline with feet slightly apart. This will be your basic starting stance for all rebounder exercises. Without lifting your feet off the mini trampoline, lightly bounce. If necessary, situate yourself near a sturdy object or wall that can be held on to for balance. As you become used to bouncing, lift your feet off the trampoline a little. Increase the height of 16 ET&T • APRIL, 2015 • www.amgtt.com

your bounce as you become more comfortable with this basic bounce BASIC WALK. This 2. is a good warm-up and cool-down exercise. From a basic starting stance, alternately lift your heels. Do not lift your toes off the trampoline. Swing your arms as you would while walking. 3. BASIC JOG This workout is a fun way to raise your heart rate and a lot more entertaining. From a basic starting stance, alternately lift each foot an inch or two off the mini trampoline. Move your arms as you would while jogging. 4. HEEL-TOE BOUNCE This is pretty advanced. Stand in the center of the mini trampoline with your feet close together. Instead of doing a basic bounce, bring your left foot forward during the bounce, touching your heel to the surface. Briefly raise your left arm up in front of you as your heel touches the surface. Repeat this for the right foot. Doing this for a minute or so is all it takes to get the sweat pouring. To make each exercise more of a challenge, go faster or bounce higher. As you become more comfortable with rebounding, you will naturally discover new exercises.

UP CLOSE & PERSONAL WITH "POSITIVE" Written by M.S. Romero

SEAT

oel Murray, AKA "Positive", is no stranger to the gospel arena. In fact, when he released his first hit single in 2007, "Never Let Go", he became a household name in Trinidad and Tobago. The song exploded on the musical scene, securing the #1 spot on local charts for almost half the year. It was not long before he was attracting the attention of international markets, such as the United States, Canada, Europe and Mexico. His vibrant personality and strong spiritual grounding has gained him the title of being one of the "most sought after gospel artistes". He has shared the stage with international acts like Mary Mary, Israel Houghton and Vashawn Mitchell, as well as reggae icons like Buju Banton, Morgan Heritage and Jah Cure. Positive introduced the first ever gospel all-inclusive event in November 2013, where he showcased a variety of local cuisine, fused with sweet reggae, soca and R & B music. In 2014, with the albums "Never Let Go" and "Forever My King", he captured a total of 8 Marlin Awards; the most awards ever received by any artiste, at one time. His music continues to expand, as he recently released his third album, "Stand And Be Counted" in March 2015. Hundreds came out to his album launch eager and ecstatic to hear what next Positive had to offer. Many people have only the image, of the energetic Positive on stage, but know little of the person behind the music. When the curtain comes down, and the lights go out, he remains the Joel Murray born and bred Trinbagonian. ET&T Magazine brings you up close and personal with Positive. ET&T: How old were you when you first started singing? Positive: 17 years old.

ET&T: Were you always into the genre of reggae? Positive: Definitely. I always loved reggae from day one. ET&T: Do you have any favorites on your new album, "Stand And Be Counted"? Positive: It's difficult to choose favorites because I love all, but I'm probably more drawn to the songs that seek an intervention from God. ‘Mighty Healer’, ‘Encounter and’ ‘All Over The World’. Ohh I can't forget ‘Scars’… this a faith builder to let the audience know that God brought us through. ET&T: Who or what inspires you to write your music? Positive: God inspires me. Inspiration also comes through different life experiences, but it only materializes when He intervenes. ET&T: What past schools did you attend? Positive: Hope Anglican Primary School, Bishops High

School Tobago and the University Of London for my tertiary studies. ET&T: What field of study did you pursue or are still pursuing in University? Positive: I did Computing for the Bachelors and I am currently pursuing the Masters. ET&T: What is your favorite past time? Positive: It’s no secret that it’s Music. Aside from that, it’s swimming. ET&T: If you had to describe your wife in 5 words, what would they be? Positive: Intelligent, gorgeous, loving, forever faithful. ET&T: Apart from Trinidad and Tobago, where is your favorite Caribbean island? Positive: Dominica. I love the beauty of nature. Dominica is nature paradise. ET&T: Where in the world do you dream of visiting?

Positive: Aside from the 7 wonders of the world for historical reasons, I always wanted to take my wife to Bora Bora to explore the world famous Aqua-centric luxury resorts. ET&T: What is your favorite dish? Positive: I think in recent times my favorite dish has become my wife's curry chicken. Although, I love the smoked lobster at Buzo with the occasional grilled shrimp. ET&T: Do you play any sports? Positive: Yes… I play Soccer and I like swimming. ET&T: Which is your favourite football club? Positive: Real Madrid. The best club in the world! ET&T: If you had to swap careers, in which field do you see yourself working? Positive: If not music I would have loved to be a chef, then maybe a footballer.

THIS CAN’T E BE RIGHT

T&T scoured Easter events trying to keep the fashion forward public safe from the few miscreants who seek to destroy fine style in all its forms. In so doing, we encountered some defectors who put the powder bottle before the law. Their decision was costly as the FP squad acted swiftly to apprehend. We really wish we didn’t have to though. This is not what Easter is about. …

This leggy lady on the left put on powder on her exposed chest. We guess she used it as an accessory. Speaking of accessories… Her two friends were just that… accessories to the crime. They were all detained.

While it does not look as pronounced on people with lighter skin, body powder should not be visible at all. Do that when you are going to bed, not when you are hitting the outdoors for a beach party.

First there was a loud ‘Poof.’ However, when the dust settled, nobody vanished. Instead, what was a white cloud came to rest on the chests of these young women. Sigh!

hile action films and comedies are effective in their own right, sometimes we crave more thought-provoking films that actually force us into introspective modes. Here are a couple to look out for.

EFFIE GRAY Dakota Fanning and Emma Thompson are the A-list stars who propel this movie. Set in an era when neither divorce, nor gay marriage were an option, Effie Gray is the story of a beautiful young woman coming of age, and finding her own voice in a world where women were expected to be seen but not heard. Within the lush environs of a world brimming with art, painting and high society and feverishly bucolic scenes of the Scottish countryside,

Effie Gray explores the intricate relationship between sexual intolerance, repression and desire which continue to permeate society today. In this impeccably crafted period drama, Thompson delicately and incisively probes the marital politics of the Victorian Era, and beyond.
