The School of the Circuit Riders launches out. Last week marked the end of the summer seminar we have been staffing here at YWAM Kona called The School of the Circuit Riders. This seminar truly was revolutionary in it’s ability to disciple young leaders and call for instant application of Jesus-centric living. Not only have the 300 participants launched themselves out into the world with a message of hope - as of right now there are teams in or on their way to Los Angeles, DC, Alaska, Pakistan, Ireland and Nepal - but over the course of the past five weeks our own community of Kona, HI has been deeply affected by Jesus moving in our midsts. On a weekly basis we hit the streets trying to live a holistic vision of gospel and proclaim the love of Jesus. As a result it’s been a summer of baptisms and salvations, tender expressions of love, the hungry being fed and even the creation of a sustainable agriculture project for a refugee community on the south of the Island. For us personally it has also been a beautiful experience of serving along side other ministries within YWAM Kona who rarely work together. We believe and hope to see more and more of the various streams and expressions within YWAM missions flowing together!

“Faith is a light of such supreme brilliance that it dazzles the mind and darkens all its visions of other realities, but in the end when we become used to the new light, we gain a new view of all reality transfigured and elevated in the light itself.” THOMAS MERTON

WOW... it’s hard to believe that we are less than six weeks from the start of the 2011 Community Transformations DTS. It has really been a blessing for us to begin to build more intentional community with the Comm Trans staff team and to continue to pioneer the relationship between photogenX and Comm Trans. So much shared vision and shared hopes! We have been meeting together on a regular basis to share meals, worship (*pictured above) and simply listen to the Lord for His vision for this DTS.

As of last week we have 60 (yup count em, sixty) incredible soon-to-be-missionaries accepted from all walks of life. They are coming from ten different nations - China, Finland, Norway, Ghana, Canada, Philippines, USA, Japan, Colombia and the Netherlands. We are praying that about 40 more students join us for this school! If you would like more information about the school or if you or someone you know would like to come and participate, visit the website or contact us!

- PRAY WITH US + Join us in prayer that each and every student the Lord is calling to participate will make it. Lord, let no financial of visa need hinder anyone from coming! + Join us in prayer as we discern outreach locations for the formation of our teams. May we go where the Lord leads us with a spirit of hope! + Join us in prayer for our students. Lord, may all of them have deep encounters with You so that new vocations are planted, costs are counted and lives are given over to the co-creation of your Kingdom.

After a good deal of prayer we have decided to head back to South Africa early next year from January - March of 2012 in order to continue our engagement with efforts underway within the beloved country. We will be going with John & Jenni Gillespie, our co-leaders of the Comm Trans DTS, and we’ll be working alongside the Comm Trans community plant in Cape Town, making pastoral visits to the DTS outreach teams around the world and continuing to pour into the relationships we have built over the past three years of working in South Africa. This trip will also serve as a time for intentional prayer, reflection and communal discernment of NEXT STEPS. We have begun the conversation with our leadership and wider YWAM community of what it might look like to pioneer a new community plant out in the nations. There are many questions to be asked and much prayer to be had, yet we believe the Lord is on the move and about to do something profound in our family. We wish to posture ourselves according to His will and so this season will be one of intentional humbling and listening. At four months old, it will also be Baby Schallert’s first trip out of the country! Please join us in prayer for clarity and vision as we begin to engage with God’s heart for our family and the future.
