ool winter breeze signals the beginning of a great season to explore nature wonders of Chiangmai and drive along one of many attractive tourist routes. I was driving along the Chiangmai -Samoeng route when a café caughtmy eyes with its unusual name. The name 360o Café & Restaurant by Phu Jaya Resort Chiangmai sparked my curiosity and I had to stop by for a cup of morning coffee.Striking décor and menu are obviously the highlight of any café, but 360o Café kicked it up a notch with a 360o rotating house! I ordered the recommended Vietnamese drip coffee served with sweetened condensed milk. The beans are imported from Vietnam and it has rich profile by using an organic coffee and aroma which was exquisite. I was suddenly see the table beside me ordered something came with a chick bamboo tube, that was a rice coffee, next time I will not miss it. It might be too early for a big meal but I was tempted to try the vegetable spring rolls, grilled pork ribs, and chicken with tamarind sauce. Everything went exceptionally well together, so I wasn’t surprised to see a continuous flow of tourists stopping for a coffee or a meal here. 360o Café & Restaurant is located on one of the busiest tourist route just 30 minutes from the city center, making it a great choice to hang out with friends or stop by on your trip.

Shimbashi and Shiodome During the Edo Period (1603-1867), Shimbashi Station was built as Tokyo’s terminus of Japan’s first railway line and when the railway tracks were later extended to Tokyo Station, Shimbashi was moved to its current location, and the Shiodome area was converted into a freight yard. In the 1980s, the yard was demolished to clear the site for the development. Nowadays, glitzy modern towers accommodate offices, shops, cafes, restaurants, etc. They are separated by elevated walkways and footbridges that allow pedestrians to stroll undisturbed by city traffic. One sight really worth looking out for here is the Amazing Clock on the side of Nippon Television

Tower. Its official name is “NI-TELE Really BIG Clock” and it was created by a famous manga artist and anime director Hayao Miyazaki over a period of 4 years. Its design reflects his enthusiasm for what is known as “steampunk”, a term coined in April 1987 by the American Writer Kevin Wayne Jeter. The clock is made mainly of copper and lives up to its “Really Big” name, being ten meters tall and 18 meters wide. If you want to visit, the “show” happens at 12.00, 15.00, 18.00 and 20.00 daily, with an additional performance at 10.00 on every Saturday and Sunday. The show starts 3 minutes and 45 seconds before each hour so make sure you get there early!

1. What is your background and inspiration? I was working with a national airline in Europe where I learnt the heart of service business and service business management. Being an exchange student for a year, I understand the pros and cons of Thai and western cultures. As a Thai, I believe it’s my duty to introduce Thai culture and exchange ideas with foreigners. When I have the opportunity to work in a spa, I put the service standard learnt from the airline to use, and at the same time, introduce Thai wisdom and tradition, as well as the renowned Thai service. 2. What is your concept of spa management ? How do you want it to be ? I want to see world-class service standards in Thai spas. We already have the reputation in services, and we can develop a system to improve our service beyond customer’s expectation.
